Bloodborne is out next week, and I want to get some hype going because I'm super excited for the game (I plan on buying a PS4 to play it once its out). So, post your Bloodborne hype. What are you excited for in the new game, what do you think looks cool, what class are you going to play, etc.?

Things I'm excited about:

New death mechanic. When you die instead of just leaving your souls (or whatever) on the ground to pick up on your next life instead the souls (or whatever) are absorbed by the enemy that killed you, so if you want to get your shit back you have to do better than you did previously and kill the thing that took you down. I really like that idea because it seems like it'll make getting your exp back that much harder since you can't just sprint over to your bloodstain anymore. Curious as to how this mechanic will work with bosses.

New character creation features. You can put glasses and sunglasses on your character. YEAH!

New dodge mechanics. I like that we're getting dashes in this game. Rolls never really made sense to me as a dodge mechanic because it's just incredibly unrealistic to roll away from an enemy attack during a fight. Dashes are awesome, dashes are the way to go, I'm super into that.

Chalice Dungeon. Bloodborne is going to have a huge procedurally generated dungeon that changes every time you enter it. It seems like it's going to add a ton of replayability, and you'll always get that feeling of unknowable dread because unlike the rest of the game you can't just memorize where everything spawns.

Atmosphere. I'm really digging the Victorian setting, it's just oozing with atmosphere. I can't wait to run through those cobbled streets fighting for my life against the mutated citizens. GET HYPE.

Wow next week didnt realise it was that soon.

Well as you can probably tell from that I have not really been following it I really liked Demons and liked Dark Souls almost as much but I have no interest in Dark Souls 2.

Bloodborne however does look good and hopefully will provide enough change of pace while keeping the same core formula I am looking for. I do like the new setting im hoping for Vampires as well as Werewolves but with their own flavoured take on them and many more interesting enemies besides of which I have little doubt they will deliver.

Really though I am in no rush whatsoever to play the game odds are I will just do what I did for Dark souls and pick the GOTY edition up in a couple of years for cheap and enjoy it then, but I wont rule out the possibility I could get it earlier definitely wont be getting it on release though I just dont have the time to invest or inclination to play it at the mo.

Looks very good. Hard to get excited for a game I won't be able to play because I'm not onboard with the generation, but if there was ever a time to get a PS4, now is it.

I don't know why FROM keeps insisting on making the invasion mechanic mandatory. I don't like PVP. That is the one thing that has killed my interest in the series, past the first two Souls games (Demon and Dark).

I would love the game - Had it not been for that.

Edit -

I want to play co-op. So going offline doesn't really help me. The appeal of the Souls games to be is not the intense difficulty, as much as it's the responsive controls, satisfying and extremely well designed combat (My impression of the "cheap" difficulty is that it mostly depend on the level design - Dead corners, pitfalls, or just not knowing where to go to avoid hazards) and fascinating mythology.

Well you could do what I tend to do and just unplug the console so its not connected to the internet and play that way. I only plugged it in for specific parts of Demons and hardly at all for Dark. Of course it also means you cant summon help (except the AI bots in Dark) but that never bothered me. Unless im missing something and Bloodborne is always online (I hope that is not the case).

I dont mind PVP in some games but its not random invasions arent really my thing I find them kinda irritating tbh. Also I have heard that if you pull the plug repeatedly every time you are invaded you will effectively be locked out of PVP so you could try doing that if you really wanted and were sure you never wanted to PVP in the games.

I think it looks nice aesthetically. As far as I'm concerned that makes it six billion times better than either Dark Souls or Dark Souls II. The games themselves aren't really my style, but I like that Bloodborne doesn't just look like an expansion pack to the Souls games, and a change of setting is greatly appreciated after three games of standard fantasy-but-with-a-twist.

Plus it's a PS4 exclusive, meaning that even if it's tremendously good the level of hype can't possibly flood as much as it did for Dark Souls on The Escapist, and the PS4 userbase isn't even large enough to warrant a The Last of Us level of hype for The Escapist forums. Everybody wins! :)

No, get hype though. Every other thread needs to be about Bloodborne.

Oh you'll get your threads to flood the forums, just not Dark Souls level of dominance :)

I'll probably end up getting Bloodborne to spite myself one day when I have a PS4. Until then I can keep dying until I finally get into either of the Dark Souls games rather than just getting why people like it.

OMG, I am drowned, soaked and drenched with HYPE ( and blood). This is my most anticipated game this year and I hope it turns out to be good. The action, the setting and that art style are it takes for me to buy a playstation 4. Ughh, why does school exist again because I need some vacation days to have some quality times with this game.

Does Bloodborne have werewolves in it?
Because I'll buy it if it has them as enemies.

Whelp, instant buy! Granted out of the Souls series I've only played through Dark Souls uno, I hope not too much has changed since that game.
Pfft that's what I get for not reading the OP, all those changes sound really good especially that new dodge mechanic.

Wait... My character can wear glasses?
This game is definitely on my "to-buy" list once I do get a PS4... Other than that, my first playthough would most likely be my character being an "Agile Hunter"... with a "Lone Survivor" origin?

If you are curious about how some of the new mechanics are going to work, this might be worth a look.

I already preordered it and I'm counting the days. How can you not look forward to killing monsters with a cane/whip?!

Because I can look forward to cutting them to bits with a scythe instead!

Just replace Enju with the monsters

Just log off XboxLive/PSN. It will ask you to log in when you boot up, and you can say no. Then you can say that you want to play it in offline mode.

I knew nothing about the game until I saw an ad about a week ago, and I didn't know it was a souls game until I watched the vid you posted.

Now, how many times have we been hyped up for a game, only for the release to see numerous issues result in a poorer game than expected?

However, with that said, it DOES look superb, and I can totally understand why some would get sucked into the hype.

I liked Dark Souls, but found it WAY too repetative to get past Stens Fortress, and I'm not a big enough fan to buy DS2 (DS1 was a 7/10 game for me). Bloodborne looks like a big step up though, especially the more paceier combat, I just hope the repetative factor is far less now.

I do want co-op though. So yeah, that doesn't really work for me.

Can't wait. It'll be cane/whip for me.

Does anyone know how the beast mechanic works? Like if you corrupt yourself enough do you lose use of your weapons but gain hand to hand buffs or something?
