TES has pretty much always had vampires (they are the result of the Daedric Prince Molag Bal raping a mortal.) This news was expected. I really hope there are werewolves in Skyrim and the Ring of Hircine too.

I would laugh my ass off if the aliens from Fallout 3 and New Vegas turned up in Skyrim as an Easter egg. What's that got to do with this? Nothing really, I hated vampires in Oblivion and I'll hate them just as much in Skyrim, they do tend to drop some half-decent loot though.

Well, might as well start calling myself Van Hellsing, because I'm going vampire hunting.

Always figured they would be back, they're a neat part of the game. It surprised the heck out of me the first time I got infected in Morrowind, which I think was on a second playthrough, I had no idea there even were vampires my first time playing. I could be wrong about this though, but I don't think Oblivion had any actual quests purely for vampire players other than curing yourself. Morrowind had 3 or 4 that only opened up once you turned, working for other vampires, killing vampire hunters, that kind of thing which let you earn a few extra items you couldn't get as a normal. Hopefully they'll bring a few missions like those back so there will actually be a reason to go through the trouble of being infected.

Nothing made me panic more in Oblivion than the notification "You have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia". If I didn't have a cure disease potion on, I'd stop whatever I was doing and go to my Wizard's Tower and grab one of my 1320392 bottles of the stuff to drink. Anything to make damn sure I don't become a vampire. Screw sun damage.

ALRIGHT! Finally some game crossover that Nintendo isn't involved with. Can't wait to fight some of these guys with a sword:
Awesome.

So it's not one of these guys. At least I won't have to listen to that horrifying, distorted panting when they chase you.

Darn, you beat me to that joke...

There was nothing more badass than a vampiric argonian in Oblivion. Although it became quite dull the fact that I needed to suck a bit of blood whenever I could and that those damned bums didn't became vampires when I feasted on them >.<'

Being a vampire was fun......but curing the thing was a fucking nightmare. In Morrowind it wasnt so bad, but in Oblivion.....just an incredibly long winded annoying quest that made you wish you hadnt bothered becoming a vamp in the first place.

Ah vampirism, the only way to go once your speed and acrobatics are capped.

Being a vampire became a cakewalk with the Vile Lair DLC. Almost too easy I guess.

Speaking of which, reminds me of this one cloak that you could find in Bloodmoon. Boosted your magic stats like crazy, but it made you take crap loads of sun damage.

This is all well and good, but I'd loooove to see some werecreatures. ^_^

Incidentally, I read the entire Ripten article last night when it was posted by the Elder Scrolls twitter feed, and it's a good, fun read, so anyone remotely interested by Skyrim should take a gander.

When I heard about the reports on how you could share a house with a roommate in skyrim, I instantly thought of how much easier it would be to be a vampire, since you will always have a concealed source of blood every night.

Besides, Vampires, suck
That was just too obvious.

OT: Yeah... I really hated being a vampire in Oblivion. So much that I started an entire dungeon again when I got the disease from a fight. Then the second time I went through it I saved after every fight to make sure I could just hop back to that bit.

It was just annoying, really.
I think it took at least 24 or more hours to get it.. and even then you can cure it easily, and use Cure potion before you get Advanced stage of disease.

Though I hardly found the use in being a Vampire, even if with mods enhancing it... can't do half the quests that are done in daylight, go to shops (THE SUN IT BURRNSS) or do Arena without constantly eating up. And even that is dumb and boring - go to waterworks at night, drink some homeless guy, profit..
You know, i'm pretty sure if you drank blood you could go out in the daylight, so it wouldn't really matter all that much.

If you ask me being a vampire didn't hurt you enough. The benefits definitely surpassed the downsides. What, i have to wait till sundown to leave this dungeon? Fair enough *use's wait function*

I kinda expected this they've been in both of the most recent games. The werewolves were really awesome in Morrowind so I hope they bring them back.

Why not have weremudcrabs?
I can see it, a whole village changing into mudcrabs at night, such a fine way to make player cry to their mommy. =p

Speed, strength, everything ...

Tis true. After you did the controlled leveling technique levelling Endurance minor skill followed by another minor skill empowered by another stat of your choice (Sneaking was the easiest) and one major skill so that you'd get x5 in everything when levelling up...

And you always raised Endurance first because that was the only stat that affected you each and every level rather than other skills which merely translated into set stats... which was easy enough to get later.

All so that you could mash luck in future levels.

And then ... you went vamp... because there is nothing else you could do more to absolutely shatter game balance. Apart from create your own spells of course <.<

No, not again, not again!!!! My quest to cure vampirism took far longer than the main quest in Oblivion, although, it was far more rewarding. Yeah, sure it's easy to cure when you know what you're doing and don't let it get to the later stages, but when you're a total noob, nope. Sure looked cool with assassin clothes though...

As long as the person doesn't have to be asleep to get blood, I'm ok for it, my biggest complaint against Oblivion Vampires was everything fun, or even interesting happening OFF screen, I never got to EXPERIENCE sucking the life from a guild leader to feed my vampirism.
