Then use the power of the jetpack to rob another bank?
sure, what are they going to do? Catch me?
Yeah, my thought too. Robbing another bank would be the only logical step at this point. However in the long run you should try for world domination.
I'd have a kitty and live under a volcano.
Sounds all like a great plan. only one problem. What if the good guys get jetpacks too?

THAT. IS. AWESOME.

It's official: we're living in the future. Now we just need spaceships to travel to other planets and we're set.
Don't forget hovercars. And not those silly plane-hybrid things.
and my hoverboard!

Just imagine - buy one of these things discreetly in present day, as jetpacks are still generally regarded as sci-fi by the general public, and go cruising over a city with it.

No one would know what to think if they saw you swerving around skyscrapers. I say joy ride now while the authorities don't know whether to apprehend you or marvel in what they're seeing.

What kind of power does this thing run on? And how far can you go without needing to refuel/recharge? That's going to affect how useful this thing is - if it can only go for an hour, it's almost useless in any practical scenario. Even twelve hours would be limited, unless they set up charging stations every couple of blocks.

Hover car prototypes definitely already exist in the military. A friend of mine actually did quite a bit of the design work on one of the models. They might even be a thing that's more common or public now, since that was a while ago (I haven't looked). I dunno about "flying" cars though.

Well... that's one thing down.

What's left on the list of things our generation has been wanting and expecting by now?

First the cyborg guy [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.401123-Worlds-First-Cyborg-Speaks-Out], and now this? Looks like the future is here sooner than I'd anticipated!

Hot damn and hallelujah.

Considering that some new cars go for nearly $50k these days, using one of these to get to work is pretty close to doable. Mind you, according to martinjetpack.com, it runs on premium gas and has a gastank that holds five gallons. With an engine that burns ten gallons an hour, that's...urg. Less fuel efficient than an Abrams tank.

Ah well. It was a good ten seconds.

Special forces huh? The sound that thing was making was very stealthy. :p

AWESOME
It is possible to muffle jet and helicopter blades by using the right materials, it just jacks up the production and maintenance cost by an order of magnitude. They should be able to get it down to where all a person within 50 meters hears is a slight hum, which should be plenty for a well planned surprise assault.

Eh, damn. Half an hour of fuel at best, that's crap. But that's always been the problem with jetpacks hasn't it? Besides operator safety, the fuel problem. I wonder how Iron Man flies around with no visible fuel source now that I think about it...

But yeah, until we can get something that can be used for long periods of time, I don't think jetpacks will ever take off.

When they can get the cost down to 20k, I'm going to do whatever is in my power to buy one.

That's so cool.
And Australian accents are still really funny, no matter the subject.

The same way all comic book superheroes do the impossible...SCIENCE! In that unexplainable, "just go with it", blue-glowy kind of way that makes physicists cry.

Hmm, still, half an hour at 100 miles an hour is a 50 mile maximum range.

Also if we got it to run off hydrogen fuel cell or something then we're really talking!

My main thought about this is that it would cut down my work commute from 40 minutes to 10, also I get to fly through the air and can park on the roof. AWESOME!
