It's because women are beautiful by nature, men are intimidating. In my opinion, the natural beauty of a woman doesn't need to be augmented or covered. I assume that's how the other people feel too.
I hate to say this. What if a woman doesn't have natural beauty? Should she cover that?

I have very little problem with tattoos and piercings in certain environments (e.g. rock clubs/gigs) but outside of that anything much larger then a nose ring is just plain distasteful.

And yes alot of the double standards with it seems to come from old gender stereotypes and the fact that alot of body mods make the wearer appear rather intimidating- which whilst Im ashamed to say I agree to a certain extent I also recognize how ridiculous it is

By that reasoning what does make up count as?

Just like clothes, hairstyles, make-up and colours fit people, the same goes for tattoos.

Just like one person might look like a goddess in a green dress and someone else looks like a hooker in the same dress, some people fit with tattoos/piercings and others do not.

It's that simple. :p
I like this.
I'm going with this haha :)

I think its all a matter of perspective. Some things look good on some people, others......not so much.
If you treat it as actual body art then it has practically limitless possibilities because the canvas is active, its alive. So tatoos and piercings and stuff can, i think anyway, be used as a way of really bringing out someone's inner person.
To quote Yahtzee "Exercise artistic freedom with a bit of aesthetic sense for the love of God......of War"

I have a pierced eyebrow, and i've had my lip pierced thrice. two of them i still have in.

Not got any tattoos though. Not because i don't want any, but i can't decide what to get.
Damn my crippling indecisiveness.

i know it makes no sense but i am far more against piercings than i am tattoos, even ear piercing just seems strange to me and yet i don't think tattoos are strange in the slightest.

Tatoo's can look really good. I plan on getting a few myself.

I don't like piercings in the face, neither on men nor women. It looks very, trailer-trashy. Can't really think of another way to put it. Ears and stuff like that are fine though.

It's hard to define, but if a tattoo, or even a piercing is tasteful, then I have no problem with it, it's all about moderation with these things.

(in other words, don't get gauges or tongue piercings, they're fucking disgusting and so are you for having them)

Don't really have much against piercings, and tattoos are cool. Except the ones that suck. Those are bad.

Im Britain it's the norm, nearly everyone has one ro the other if they are under 28ish. A lot of women have tattos, even if it's only some piddly stupid shit in their feet or whatever. I don't ever hear of hate towards women with body mods or tattoos, but maybe that's just my community or England. I know it's a lot different in America, but a lot of things seem kinda.. behind there, attitude wise. Odd considering the technological advances and world superpower thing those guys have going on at the same time. Scary.

Me? I'm too poor for tattoos. Mid 20's and never had that much disposable income. Working class for the win ¬¬

I don't mind as long as it's not too excessive

...but I wouldn't be able to do it to myself, I just don't want to

That's always been one thing I love people saying, that "I don't have money ever", yet their bodies are clad in more piercings and tattoos than I could want to count.

I've not got a piercing because I dont like the idea of having them, it'd just annoy the hell out of me. I'd get a tattoo if I could settle on a design and find an artist I trust enough to do it.

My girlfriend has piercing and tattoos and a lot of my friends are the same.

Tattoos are better if they have stories behind them or they really reflect something about you. Love them on girls, admire them on guys if they're well done. Would have to do something tattoo worthy before I got one meself. My obsession with smileys would not translate well into yellow and black ink, just looks bad.
Peircings can be purely cosmetic and I think girls look just fine with none or plenty, wouldn't really get them myself except maybe some tiny stretchers if none of my friends are looking.

Oh and I'd have to have enough money for once as well :)

Your opinions?

Just your regular piercings and tattoo's.

One big problem I do have, though, is how people still seem to think it's wrong for a Female to have either. I'm forever getting "Aww, why did you do that to your face" "You don't have to have these tattoo's, your a lady!" but it's ok for men /minirant.
I think tattoos and piercings are very hot. Particularly on females.

I'm scared of needles, or I would totally get a tattoo. My partner has two tattoos, and I love them.

As for piercings, they're hot, but other than your basic ear studs, I'm too needle-phobic to get others (actually, my mom had to practically drag to Clair's me to get me the ear piercings in the first place).

I'm always been interested in sleeping with someone who had body piercings in relevant locations. The only girl I know who has those sorts of piercings is straight, and therefore uninterested in me.

I don't have any tattoos, but I really like them. They look really pretty on girls. Well, except tramp stamps. Hate those.

Not overly fond of piercings myself, though.

It's a shame that body mods only go that far. Where's my god damn cyborg arms? Or super-livers?

Exactly. I mean a decent artist charges at LEAST £1 per minute, with a minimum charge. I'm from East London, but lived up north for 4 years, and I always got the "you're from the south so you much be privileged etc", from guys who were covered in tattoos and went to football matches every weekend, after spending every night in the pub! I tell you what, I really wish I could work out how to make millions off of benefits, like the papers say happens. I'd be right comfy then XD

Tat got one. piercing got one. I don't see what the big deal is when people go are you nut why did you get a tat. I think as long as its not too extreme or too much its ok.
