How someone accessorizes their body is their buisness. As for myself I do not wish to tatoo, pierce, or otherwise modify my body.

I see tatoos as works of art that the should be worn proudly by those who get them and not shunned or seen as taboo as society. Then again not all tatoos are appropriate for public viewing. Just like any other piece of art though beauty (or appropriateness) is in the eye of the beholder.

On the subject of piercings I see the traditional ear piercing style (right on the lobe) as okay. As for other piercings (eyebrow, nose, lip, navel, etc...) although I see no appeal in them some people do. If others wish to have metal in/on them so be it. In the end it really does not affect me...

I love tattoos, and I plan on getting around 5 or 6(currently working on my designs). On the other hand, I'm somewhat indifferent to piercings.

Piercings and tattoos can look nice on the right person anyways, as long as its not overboard. :3

I love art in all it's forms, but my love of natural form wins out in this one. Earrings and small tattoos are fine, but it's the heavy body mod stuff that makes me go "Yeah they seem alright, but I just can see myself hanging out with them much."

I'd never get any though.

I feel that moderation is usually best. I'd like to get a tattoo myself, but I want it on my wrist and that means I'd have to wear a long sleeve shirt in the 90 degree(F) summers at work to cover it up. Screw that.

I had an eyebrow piercing, have a tat. I'd pierce my junk, but they don't make a boat anchor big enough.

It's funny, I also live in Wales, but I see way more girls with this kinda stuff than guys. I'm male, and if anything people find it stranger that a guy has piercings.

Just your regular piercings and tattoo's.
Personally, I love them! I have quite a number of piercings and 5 tattoo's so far. (One of which is to do with Portal, I dunno if this is good or bad?!)

Do you think they're still taboo in society and people need to lighten up and accept they're an art form? Or do you think they're hidious and should be covered up and not be on show in a work enviroment or anywhere for that matter.

They're anything but taboo these days, I'd almost say they're trendy. This was brought home to me when I visited my quite-a-bit-more-conservative-than-me brother's family and his wife had a massive tribal lower back tattoo.

At my workplace people have tattoos and piercings all over the place. I know some workplaces give a fuck but mine certainly doesn't.

People can chop off their fingers as a fashion statement as far as I'm concerned, but I'd never do any of it on myself. Piercings can stand out more at first if they are in a visible place, but at least they can be taken off, unlike tattoos (well except with laser surgery but I hear that's a lot more expensive/painful then getting the tattoo in the 1st place.)

I'm getting a tattoo sometime... Hopefully before I graduate too.

As for piercing? Not for me and I'm never really bothered by anything other than the tongue. My tongue is sacred, that's where the flavor goes.

On a more serious note - I might get a tattoo I've been thinking of and designing... though I could never let my dad see it because he think anything that has a tattoo must be either gang-related or crime-related -_-.
