"Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, kinda hard for a non-regular reader but I think it's ok for starters.
Really? I think that's quite possibly the worst book you could possibly recommend to someone who isn't an avid reader.

OT: For something that's a fairly easy read but a great book nonetheless, I'd recommend Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke. Not too long, not too complex, but absolutely fantastic.

Well, some of my personal favourites are the Three Worlds Cycle (no-one on this site seems to have read them though...), and the Discworld series. Also, if you like video game tie-ins, the Halo books are actually a really good read. And the Hungry Cities Chronicles by Phillip Reeve are pretty good. Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy is great, as is the Deptford Mice series, and the Lord Of The Rings books (plus The Hobbit) are good, but a little overwhelming for a new reader.

Really though, we can't decide what you'll enjoy unless you tell us what genres you're into. I mean, my choices are mainly fantasy and sci-fi because that's what I like, but you might be interested in romance, comedy or historical novels for all we know (if you are, then I say anything by Mills and Boon publishers for the former, any Pratchett, Gaiman or Rankin for the middle, and the Sharpe series for the latter).

Also, I urge you to read the Twilight books. And yes, I am being 100% deadly serious here. The reason being not that you'll enjoy them, but that everyone denounces the series yet only about 5% (number pulled from my arse) of the people here who call it out have actually made any attempt to read the books or watch the films. So I say, read the books, please, and decide for yourself. If you don't like them then fair enough, you'll have earned that opinion, but until you at least give them a try you have absolutely no right to say whether they're good or bad. No right whatsoever. And that applies to everyone, about everything.

If you don't really read much, you'll probably want to read something either short or informal. But, it really depends what you're into...

I love Heroes and I am currently reading Saving Charlie and it is quite good.

Anything by James Patterson. I'm serious, the guy knows how to build tension. Also any of Chuck Palahniuk's books too (assuming you have a strong stomach).

Discworld!!!!!!! The books are by Terry Pratchett

So long as you have a sense of humor, you'll thank me. I promise.
I second this. The discworld series may very well be the greatest fantasy/comedy series of all time.

Even though it's been mentioned to death I'm still gonna say "anything by Neil Gaiman".

Other suggestions:
1.Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson (if you're into incredibly crazy and surreal stories)
2.Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol (for the same reason as Fear and Loathing)
Lamb by Christopher Moore (hilarious story about Jesus's "lost years" wherein he learns kung fu)
3.Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (if you're into romance at all)
4.The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. (it's a classic, what can I say?)
5. Fletch by Gregory MacDonald (fast paced mystery novel that the Chevy Chase movie is based on)
6. Lord of the Flies by William Golding (also a classic)
7. Any of the Sherlock Holmes stories (if you like mysteries that is)

and that's all I got off the top of my head.

Holy crap, didn't expect this many replies XD Definitely a record for me on a thread.
K, I'm not a total noob to reading, I'm actually a very strong reader, I just haven't done much of it throughout high school, so I wanted some good ones that would excite me back into it.
Thanks for the suggestions, I have enough now to read for...my entire lifetime...

If you're looking for something funny, I suggest anything by Danny Wallace. I'm reading "Yes Man" at the moment and it never fails to amuse me. Though, if you've seen the movie, forget about it - complete rubbish in comparison to the book. I'm not even done it yet and "Yes Man" is definitely my favourite novel. For my birthday, I ordered all the books he ever wrote and trust me - I'm not a big reader but Danny Wallace has really reeled me in.

Edit: Whoops! Didn't see that you had enough - but he's still worth at least checking out on Wikipedia or something. Have fun!

You know what, I'm gonna say Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Now, I have been reading, give or take, a book a week for the last 17 years. That means I have read about 850+ books. Dan Brown is rubbish author and is books are crap, well down the list. Some books I have read have stayed with me my whole life, indeed they have changed the way I live my life and the way I look at the world. That said the too books I have suggested above are fast paced, easy to read, page turners. Read them to get into reading and then move on to something better. You will forget about them in less then a week.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is, by far, the greatest book I've ever read. It's not action-packed, it's not super emotional, but it's just damn good.

^This is 100% right. If you are not a big reader, you need to pick from the stuff that tops the bestsellers listings to read. It's easy to read, generally well paced and full of excitement and gets you started. A lot of what other people have suggested can be challenging to read if you are not a strong reader, or used to reading. If you don't like Dan Brown, than go with John Grisham or Tom Clancy or whatever else is is on the NY Times Mass Market Paperback best sellers.
