Got a pair of Demonias and I love them to death. Don't get an excuse to wear them much but they look damn impressive, they're sturdy and surprisingly comfortable.

They don't look that warm.

If you're in Canada, go to SoftMoc [http://www.softmoc.com/] and peruse the shoes. (My sister works there, yay plug.)

Sorels are great for cold weather.

NEVER EVER buy Uggs. They are god-awful. Not warm at all, and if you get them wet, it will ruin them. That means don't even get snow on them and then take them off inside and let the snow melt on them - it will kill the shoes. No salt, dirt, anything on them or they will be ruined. They're awful.

My sister's got a pair of BLundstone boots in regular and winter versions and she loves 'em... I think they all look like mens shoes.

Watch the weather rating on them, too. Canada would mean a minimum of -20 rated, but if you're on the prairies, -40 would be better.

I love those, and they look warm to me. When it comes to boots, I love zippers on the side and the colour brown. The fur is a nice touch too!

I like simple ("low-tech") boots made of genuine, tough leather, and have recently ordered a pair of Corcoran army boots [http://uscav.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=5489&tabid=548&catid=6]. It may take some time to break these things in (Pro tip: Wear two pairs of non-cotton socks during this process), but once they get comfortable, they get REALLY comfortable - and stay that way! Also, if you take proper care of them (treat them with a beeswax-based sealant before first use, repeat once a year, brush off dirt and dust as it accumulates and keep them shiny with regular Kiwi), they will last for years - meaning you won't have to worry about getting new boots for a LONG time!

Incidentally, I also considered some Dr. Martens [http://store.drmartens.co.uk/p-295-dr-martens-8761-bxb-boot.aspx]. It's a well-renowned brand and this particular model has a really impressive sole pattern, but I eventually decided on the Corcorans because they are taller. Yes, there are taller Doc's, but they have smoother soles. And the Corcorans were cheaper.

I've actually owned a couple of pairs like these and they are wonderfully warm. makes walking in the snow awesome again. only problem is that no one brand makes that style: geox might have something, though.

I tend to wear motorcycle boots, mainly because I spend far too much on my motorbikes. In summer I like my Wiese ankle boots or cowboy boots on the Harley, in winter I go for my Alpinestars or Ariats

The pair I currently wear on a day to day basis are Wolverine Guardian 6" steel toed black leather work boots, very comfortable, and very durable.
