I rented Borderland when I had a long time friend comes from out of state (well, province) for the holidays and figured it would be an interesting way to kill an evening or two.
60'' TV, so the 'split-screen' really isn't that much of an issue.
And well... I don't know if it's something we were doing wrong or maybe we just suck... but man is this game boring >_>.
Not that far in the game (we were trying to find mine keys from that Skeet(sp) guy), we got to a point where all the quests we could find were a few level higher than us and rated 'Tough'. And well, they were. Seemed no matter which one we tried to do, we ended up in the same situation:
- Head shot target. Critical!
- Watch target's health drop by about 1/20th.
- Target shoot you once, your shield is gone. Shoot you twice, you're a 10 hp.
- You take cover. Wait for shield to come back up.
- Take pot shot at target's head and emtpy a freaking clip in it.
- Target finally dies.
What fun and interesting gameplay! It goes even worse if there was more than one guy.
Heck, at the end we mainly used Incendiary weapon, because of the 'damage over time' component made the whole 'shoot them in the face and hide' tactic works that much better (Also used a Electrical gun to remove the shield first).
Won't get you started on the arena, which had those heavily armored dog things which we'd litterally run out of ammo trying to kill... doesn't seem right for a monster one level above you to take that much damage before it dies.
Like I said... maybe we just suck, but the fact that headshots do an abysmal amount of damage makes me think the problem isn't with our ability to aim properly, but rather with the game's combat engine...
And this is the game everybody is raving about? I'm fairly convince we went at it wrong somehow... but where?
