I had a friend sleep over the weekend, and he brought a little game called borderlands. I had been interested in this game for quite a while, never got the chance or money to buy it though. So we played it, we sat for hours just playing this game. I have to say though, multiplayer was a bit too hard for me, everything seemed 10 times worse. And that was a little letdown for me, but everything else about it was great. 200.000+ guns, all randomly generated throughout the game. You could find a combat rifle, and then later on find one that looks the same, except it has camo paint and a scope. Or less/more ammo. The whole role playing shooter thing is completely awesome, spending talent points (speccing) in different talent trees is a great way to customize your character. You can use the New-U's to change the colors of your clothing and your name. Seemed kind of useless to me though. And another thing i like about borderlands, you dont have to worry about how good your armor or clothing is. And you never have to repair anything. A good shield is all you need. Even the grenades help you with healing. I myself love using corrosive weapons and transfusion grenades.

How about you?
What did you think about this game?
What character are you playing as?
What equipment do you like to use?

Hey, if anyone has borderlands, you may want to check out the Group... It's called Escapist Borderlands Group (Original, huh)...
And, I love the game... It's what I was looking for in a game for a long while...
EDIT2: Got a Lv.48 Soldier... I heard there's gonna be alot of DLC, which I like...

I play as Brick I like healing shields and light machine guns the game was a little easy solo but playing with four people could get tough. Doesn't usually work that way in games does it?I liked it.

I thought it was a fresh FPS/RPG, with just enough variety to keep me interested. At first i thought it would be repetitive. Then I killed Skagzilla and shot Rokk poop of a wind turnbine. Awesome.

I usually use Brick, with The Titan Class Mod. My main Weapon would have to be my good ol' electric Shotgun, followed by whatever Support Rifle I have on me. For the Berserker State, I stuck with the Acid element, cause it's fun to watch people corrode from a punch. Add any kind of healing Sheild, and you've got my character in a nutshell.

One of the best games ever. Fun as hell online, Siren lvl 50, SMG's and shotguns, all elements.

I play Mordecai with a x4 sniper rifle, an awesome revolver, a savage masher and an elemental, along with a health regen class mod and a healing shield.

I kinda did what you did, except I was the one who bought Borderlands and after two sleepovers we got both of our characters to level 30ish if I remember correctly.

Asking questions about Borderlands is preventing you from playing it and is therefore not doing justice to its awesome.

At the core of the game we have a (fairly) weak FPS mechanic and a threadbare stoyline propped up by competent voice acting and often hilarious moments supporting the mad pursuit of epic loot. The core game components were competent enough to keep me playing while the thrill of finding new stuff was still fresh but once the rate of drops of better items started to slack, I lost interest quickly. It was well worth the 60 USD I paid for the game and would like to see a sequel, hopefully with a more solid foundation.

I played for a time as every character but I eneded up with Lilith simply because she was my highest level when playing with friends. I favored the SMG because the character and items favor the weapons. Secondarily I relied on a handgun of some variety, generally with fire/corrosive damage. I always kept my Elephant gun handy and the fourth weapon slot played host to a variety of weapons.

I got bored and sold it when I got all the trophies. I did like the fight against Sledge, because I figured out my very own tactic against him that worked really good, but that fight became boring later too.

Good game, worth the money, not worth GotY compared to other games that came out this year IMO.

The game is a fun shooter that has an interesting style to it with interesting mixes of shooting enemies and monsters that is made even more fun when playing with others. :\

I play as a Siren

SMGs, Revolvers and a shotgun with elemental buffs preferred over damage.

Well I freaking love it.
Once you get past some of the multiplayer connection issues. Its one of the most fun/origional games I have played in a long time.

I play as a Siren and Soldier I have one of each in the 40s.
Guns....... its hard to pick one. I have loved so many over the time playing this game. Find a good elemental revolver Those are just good fun. Find a rocket launcher that fires all 3-5 rockets in rappid. That is just awsome to see.

I gotta say the engine has some problems, the car gets stuck all the time, and there are a lot of unnecessary invisible walls. Still a lovely game though. Me and my friend were about level 22 when he had to go home, i was Mordecai and he was Lilith.

I was extremely surprised after playing this, never expected it to be so addictive.

Well anyway I'm a level 20 hunter and loving every head-shot!

On another note -- Anyone else think the game is awfully picky about head-shots though? I swear I keep getting cheated out on them.

That's by far my favorite thing about the game! You get rolling on single player and it's engagingly tough, you throw a friend in the mix and suddenly the battles are fucking epic! (edit: You absolutely MUST stay close and work together if you are doing normal or tougher missions! This is the most fun way to play the game anyway!)

I did already make a thread for posting people's favorite Borderlands builds, but no one replied. I guess people aren't in it deep enough to get psyched about trying different characters/skill sets. Everyone I've shown the game to has loved it - my dad even sat and watched me play it for two hours, and he HATES video games!

My number one guy:
Savage Henry the Skag Baron, lvl 40 soldier.
Blast Hammer gold explosive shotgun
Combustion Hellfire gold incendiary smg
Transfusion nades
Commando mod with shotgun buffs and +4 ammo regen

If you thought multiplayer was hard, wait until you hit your second playthrough when everything is lvl 30 and up! I did the shock crystal harvest at level 39 and it took me two hours to get through, and when I was done I was running for my life!

PROTIP: Don't rescue the claptraps on your second playthrough! The backpack upgrades top-out at 30!! I was fucking livid when I saved that little prick and all I got was a MIRV mod.

The engine has TONS of problems - I really hate the interface and the shadows look downright ugly on the 360 - I think that's just a problem inherent with Direct X tho. This is one of those rare games that is so incredibly fun to play that it makes up for all the flaws in the implementation.

I hardly ever get headshots on the bandits, the hit-boxes are very wonky especially when the characters are bent over or doing other special animations. Of course with the creatures, the critical hit criteria are always different - it's especially easy to get criticals on the Spiderants (once they turn around/let you get behind them) but I often feel I'm getting gipped out of crits on the Skags - how open does a mouth need to get?

I like it. I was anticipating it for a while and got it day one. To me it was not as fun the second time around because really it is a linear game in a free-roaming environment. The quests really did not have anything to go back to, since they are under the "Quantity not Quality" mind set. I play as a siren because I always liked classes with supernatural abilities, but to my dismay has only phasewalk which is not as good as the Scorpio Turret or Bloodwing. It is a solid shooter but not good enough of an RPG, especially since the Classes don't have many game altering differences other than action skill and the occasional unique skill tree skill. Like Mordecai is the sniper, but that does not stop anyone else from picking up a sniper and kicking as much enemy rear end. Also some more unique weaponry should be added. Like maybe every now and then a quest will give you something that is not even close to anything and is a one of a kind. That almost is hard to say with all the guns the game has, but I mean like instead of the usual 1) Pistols 2) Shotguns 3)Snipers etc etc we get something completely different like a gun that shoots pellets that distract enemies or something.

I bought it for PC and almost regretted it. Then I got a vehicle and the game just opened up. I'm level 24 and I can't stop playing. This game is so addictive.
