Whatever, just wash your hands.
I got borderlands for the pc for xmas and so far its doing everything it can to make me hate it. The interface is suprisingly clunky the mouse wheel doesnt scroll text, it seems to like crashing on start up and multiplayer seems to almost be an afterthought. When it actualy works the gameplay seems really good but it seems to really hate the players. Has anyone else with the pc version had this stuff or does the game really just hate my machine?

It hates the players? Elaborate?

But otherwise, no comment, since I don't have Boderlands :3

EDIT: My Comment - Borderlands looks cool.

This was a game designed for console and so little has been done to make it PC user friendly that its practically a giant middle finger to anyone who buys it for anything but console.

In two words?

Gamespy lol.
yeah gamespy is a massive piece of shit, the only games Ive seen it on aside from borderlands have been games that dont expect people to actualy play them multi-player. Dont know what gearbox was thinking when they added it, even games for windows live would be better.

I only got the console version but a friend of mine got it for PC and he said it was great. I never heard him say he had any problems.

Because that never happens the other way around right?

I had a crap load of problems. I also refuse to use Gamespy so have not played online. Which is extra special crappy as the game was designed to be played multi-player. Eventually I got tired of it crashing, something it does constantly and just stopped trying to play. As well since the ending was spoiled by everyone with a fingers that can type in English about three days after the game was released.

The problem is more likely with the people than the multiplayer. The multiplayer makes the game more fun and challenging. It shouldn't feel tacked on but then again I'm playing it on the 360.

I loves me some Borderlands, but yeah the interface is definitely dogshit. The mousewheel is pretty crap because it'll automatically keep trying to highlight whatever your curser is on. It's easier to just use the keyboard for navigating menus. Don't let that get in the way of what is a really solid game though. The multiplayer worked just fine for me and my mates. We've numerous playthroughs of the campaign with nary a hitch. Do you have a firewall being a hater? Can't say I ever had any issues with crashing either. Do you have your drivers and all that jazz up to date?

It's quite a hasty console port indeed. It's got a few things that give it away, even when ignoring the weird aiming which just feels a bit sluggish.

Scroll wheel doesn't scroll blocks of text. Page up and Page down do.
"Auto-aim" option is available, and turned on by default.
You can't select Sniper Rifle proficiency by pointing with your mouse. Seriously.. Try it.
Mouse sensitivity "slider" is laddered. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. If 0 is too slow for you, and 1 is too fast, tough luck.
You can play it online, as long as you have a gamespy account. Which is free.

Worth mentioning twice.

It's all very minor in the end, except for the mouse sensitivity. It just gives you that hint of "cheapo", which can take away from your experience. It's like watching the Lord of The Rings trilogy, and during the three movies it's painfully obvious to you that the swords are clearly made of plastic, or one of the character's always shown wearing a pair of Nikes. Doesn't really ruin it for you, but gives you that "meh.." feeling. Kind of like what Yahtzee was on about in his Oblivion review, and the game's problem with immersion.

It's a good game though, and by no means unplayable, unless you're constantly crashing. Just need to look past all the consoleness.

The biggest problem I've had has been Gamespy. Spent a while opening ports, and when that didn't work, trying programs such as Tunngle, GameRanger, or Hamachi to connect to friends.

Well the scroll text is because it is a console port.
How is multiplayer an afterthought? yeah the port forwarding is a pain and doesnt have simple thing like showing ping, but the problems with it are because... it is a console port.
The mouse sensitivity is screwed, but im lucky enough i can fine tune my mouse DPI so it isnt so bad.
I do have some problems now and then with some graphic problems, and the game hates SLI, but other than that it works ok and Im having a ball with it XD

Try a driver rollback and see if that fixes it.

I have Borderlands for PC and it's one of the better buys I've made this year.

Id say multiplayer is an after thought since it doesnt seem like you can just drop into a game, you have to form a party before the fact, at least thats how it seems, I havent been playing it much because of the aformentioned crashing issue

Apart from the fact that it doesn't run very smoothly (I had to turn off Depth Of Field to make it playable) when it doesn't seem like it should be a particularly demanding game for my machine (I can play most every other game on highest 'cept Far Cry 2 and Crysis) I haven't had any major issues with it. However, I've not tried the multiplayer yet. The interface is a bit clunky to navigate making it a pretty obvious console port, but that doesn't bother me.
