I was thinking about buying borderlands, I was wondering if it is anything special, or just like you know another game.

Have three friends thinking the same thing? Then yeah, it's probably worth checking out. It's a pretty solid shooty-levelly-killy game with about as much depth as a teaspoon. But the guns are pretty cool when you start getting the higher tier ones with elemental properties.
its awesome if you play with friends. if you play by yourself its still cool but not nearly as good
It's a good game, that i can tell. I played alone, but guns alone were awesome enough to keep me at it. What i can say:
+ Cool guns. Really, really cool.
+ Co-op mode.
+ Grinding is pretty fun.
- Lame story (seriously, in the first DLC Marcus even admits it).
- Lame original ending.
- Grey-and-brown environment.

Funny, I was going to ask the same thing. It's going pretty cheap right now and I want a game to keep me occupied until Portal 2 and the next Fallout come out.
Rather than make a new thread for it I shall add my question to it:
Would I be better off with Arkham Asylum instead? As that's another game I have my eye on, that or Alan Wake (although that isn't out yet...). I should point out that I like most kinds of game, I like a good story, but I also like mindless shooters every now and again.

I had fun with it in single and multiplayer. Nothing absolutely amazing but really exciting for a play through or two.
It's one of those games that's meant to be played split-screen co-op. The PC version is apparently terrible. If you have someone who is willing to share a couch for the entirety of the game, go nuts, otherwise it's just pretty good.
It wasn't all that but if its cheap you might aswell pick it up, just remeber if your looking for a RPG i would stay away since it's more shooter and exp grinding

But you do need a friend to get the most out of it, really. SP gets a bit boring in Borderlands, I thought.
Arkham Asylum is a brilliant game and I found it a bit more fun then Borderlands. Mainly because A) You are Batman and B) You are Batman. Oh, and C)The Scarecrow parts are just amazing. It just doesn't have much re-playability in my eyes, though. Story mode has a few collectibles if you want to look them up, some good back story to it if you find the interview tapes with the inmates, a few of which will make you laugh, especially the Jokers. Borderlands on the other hand has seen me clock 6 days over 3 characters, have a blast with a friend in split screen co-op and, at times, made me laugh quite loudly. Also, the gun system which means you very rarely see the dame gun twice. Even though just today me and a friend had exactly the same shot-gun, down to stats and what not.
I'd say pick your buy based on the last game you got. Mindless shooter your last buy? Arkham Asylum. Story game was last buy? Borderlands.
But I'd personally take Batman: AA. It should be cheapish now, I think.

Story's pretty bad, the gameplay is what's fun about it. Make sure to have some friends to play with, either co-op or over Xbox Live/Internet/PSN.
As long as you have at least 1 friend to play with, it's worth buying. If you don't know anyone with it or willing to get it, less worthwhile. In particular when you get it, ensure you grab The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. Dr. Ned was alright, but debateable purchase, Knoxx is full of awesome. And with a friend, you can go throw yourselves at Crawmerax until you figure out how to destroy him repeatedly.
I enjoyed playing it but it wasn't amazing in my opinion. I really liked the graphics in it though.
It's the most important meal of the day. Oh uh, sorry that was irrelevent. It is a pretty unique game... I got bored of it after a while, but if you like lots of guns with different stats that look the same... hand drawn textures, and monotonous quests, then it is for you.
If you have some friends to play it with, it's absolutely worth it; it's one of the most enjoyable co-op experiences I've ever had. If you're looking to play it alone though, I'd say it depends how much you like loot games, as that's pretty much what it is. If you find it for cheap though, I'd say it's definitely worth picking up.
