So I'm feeling kinda salty right now, and I feel like venting a bit by asking you all a question:

Is there any boss that you seem unable to beat due to how ridiculous it is? Or you have beat, but only through extreme trial and error or luck?

Okay that was two questions, but you get the point.

For me, that boss right now is the final boss of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey:

Oh KrazyKid, why didn't I listen to you? My body was indeed NOT ready for this gargantuan *****.

So let's see, in addition to having a super powered version of every elemental spell in the game, she also has some of the special moves of past bosses. Including that one move that has a good chance of inflicting rage. The ONE status ailment Void Mind does not block for whatever reason.

She also prevents you from buffing and debuffing past one debilitate and one luster candy, otherwise she removes it all AND heals herself in the process. So the battle turns into a battle of attrition.

Plus, she has a VERY annoying tendency to use Mother's Kiss, which hits multiple times and kills me at full health.

And this is only her first form. I can barely beat the first phase only to be taken down by her second form.

I've been trying for the past three days to beat this *****, but I just can't seem to do it. I tried grinding up to around her level, I tried restructuring my entire party so they can reflect some of her magic, which seems to be the only effective way of doing damage, but even that's not enough. The only thing I can do now it seems is to grind like mad to fuse a demon that knows Jihad, which works like Debilitate, but does a lot of damage too.

At the moment however, I just don't feel like spending that amount of time.

So. How about you guys? Who remains the bane of your existence as of now?

Tiamat in Darksiders is the most difficult boss battle I've ever had to suffer through. She is insanely difficult. From moves you have seconds to dodging, from wiping out almost all of one lifebar in one hit. She is the first boss in game and going by what others have said, the most difficult. Took me at least twenty tries, multiple console shut offs, and even one controller throw... on fucking easy. It has been sometime since a game has pissed me off as much as Darksiders. I'm still pissed off at a rage quit from earlier today. The game is the most infuriating game I've ever played.

I never beat the Primagen from the end of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for the Nintendo 64. Well, I beat him with cheats on, but that meant I skipped a lot of the stages required for the better ending. I remember something about defending totems that I couldn't be bothered to do, so I skipped levels instead. As a result, there was doubt cast upon whether or not the boss of the game was truly dead.

Damn, that game had some good bosses.

...It also had the Flesh Eaters:

"Powers beyond the comprehension of flesh have been set in motion. Primagen must not be stopped. The totems must fall, the balance must falter. Chaos must commence. We are the darkness, we are the unseen, we are Oblivion. That which has been set in motion cannot be stopped. Your deeds, your lives, your very existence, fall under the great Shadow of Oblivion. Your failure is inevitable ".

Black Dragon Kalmeet in Dark Souls 1 for the longest time.

It was only with my second playthrough as a more tankey character that I finally did it.

Ah Mem Aleph. What a fair boss she is. The only way I could beat her was to grind until I could fuse Shiva, transfer Jihad to all my demons and just spam it over and over, while my MC just used healing items constantly. If you are good with fusion, it's also possible to kill her by reflecting her own elemental spells right back.

Most of the bosses in Strange Journey were fucking crazily difficult or unfair.

OT: I was never able to beat Sephiroth in Kingdoms Hearts 1 no matter how many times I tried. Poor controls combined with his massively damaging attacks and ridiculously large HP bar meant I never even got close to beating him.

The Empress of Time in Warrior Within. Even on Easy, it took me replaying the game and making sure I got all the health upgrades just to have barely enough life to beat her. At the end of the fight, I was out of sands and the sliver of health I had left was so small that I couldn't even see it anymore. Again, this was on Easy with all available health upgrades until that point.

Essentially, the fight is just a one-on-one sword fight. Like most bosses, you are limited in the acrobatics you can do. Trying to climb over her will cause her to knock you down, and she sometimes will even move out of the way of attacks launched from a wall or a pillar. This mostly limits you to using basic attacks and sand powers, but the problem with adding those sand powers is that she not only is the only boss that is partially immune to them (ex. she can still block to some extent if you slow down time), but it also reduces the number of times you can rewind time if you get killed. Oh, and you can't replenish them, considering the minions she summons a couple times never drop any.

After that, she is just incredibly unforgiving. Attack too many times, she'll block and launch a quick counterattack that will possibly knock you down. Block for too long and she'll go low, knocking you down. She may also teleport right behind you, and if you try to dodge the inevitable attack the wrong way, The Prince will end up trying to climb over her which, as I've already said, causes her to knock you down. Oh, and she also doesn't have any qualms with striking you a couple times while you get up, and as I'm sure I've made clear, getting knocked down is a common result of even minor mistakes. The fight isn't necessarily unfair outside of the occasional control problems all the Prince of Persia games have, but it is really unforgiving and probably the last time a boss really challenged me to an excessive degree.

With that said, I've never been more thrilled to beat a boss, and I'd even say that that fight is among the most enjoyable boss battles I've had. Sure, it made me rage quit multiple times and even got me to restart a game I wasn't particularly fond of at the time. However, I still haven't found a major sword fight quite as thrilling as that one.

Welp, that goes to two of them:

The first one I've been unable to beat in over 7 years, and that is Terra from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix +. I got KH2FM+ the year it came out, and in those 7 years I've not beaten him once. I've come close multiple times, and on my YouTube Channel I oftened used fighting Terra for tests of framerates for my capture card, as well as bit rate testing, and forcing a higher resolution output. In all the tests, I've not beaten him once.
Worst part is that I'm gonna have to actually beat him now since I have to LP KH2FM+ as my next Kingdom Hearts game...dammit...

The second one is also from the Kingdom Hearts universe, and is another Super Boss...the infamous No Heart. No Heart is without a doubt the hardest boss in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and he's killed me multiple times. Master Eraqus' Keyblade Armor isn't too bad, but No Heart is just the epitome of pure evil. Funny enough No Heart is the only boss that is impossible to do a Level 1 run on because of certain things.

I can assist you if you wish. KH1 Sephiroth is difficult, and honestly I got lucky against him on my LP of Final Mix (the original PS2 one). He got off a Heartless Angel on me, and didn't teleport behind me, while giving me enough time to use an elixir. The gaming gods were watching me that day I guess. :/

Do super bosses count?
They do now.

Battle starts, he uses Cilone which hits multiple times for high damage, then follows up by casting Ultima.
Screw this boss, I don't feel like grinding for years to beat it anyways.]
Turn 1
Use Clione

Turn 2
Use Normal Attack on random target

Turn 3
If (Has less than 1/4 of HP remaining)
Use Final Impact
Else
Use Ultima

Turn 4
Use Normal Attack on random target

Turn 5
If (Has less than 1/2 of HP remaining)
Use Fireworks
Else
Use Full Break on random target

Turn 6
If (Is in Haste status)
Use Final Impact
Else
Use Haste on self

Repeat from Turn 1

I never managed to defeat Vergil 3 in Devil May Cry 3 on a difficulty above normal, hitting him is hard, and his attacks are hard to dodge and hit hard, and when he goes into devil trigger mode he may as well be invincible, he just starts healing and I can't do any damage even if i hit him at all, removing the progress I made on him.

I've given up on beating SMTIV, I'm taking the neutral route and just managed to scrape by fighting Merkibah's first form before the second one came out and decided that no, that train has no brakes.

For me, personally, that title go towards Mysterious Figure from Birth By Sleep... That cheap-ass mother fucker with his stun-lock combos that can (and will) kill you, even if you have both Second Chance and Once More equipped... Sure, there's a stradegy that you can use to make sure you come on top for any of the three characters you choose to want to take this fucker on mano a mano, but for fuck's sake, WHY DOES THAT STUN-LOCK COMBO ALWAYS FUCKING KILL ME?!

Last boss on hardest difficulty in Tales of Symphonia.
I thought he/she/it was hard enough on normal difficulty, then me and a mate decided to go coop on hardest, never beat him... it... -.-
Won't put the name or the picture of the character, it might spoil an old game for someone?

I don't remember what difficulty I played ToS on back on Gamecube, in fact, I might have been playing on easy. It must have been easy, because I steamrolled the guy, then got my ass kicked by Abyssion later on. Anyway, I set Raine's big-ass AoE healing spell on speed dial (one of the C-keys), and spammed that button during all of combat.

The one boss that has made me go "fuck it, I'll go do something else", is in fact Abyssion from ToS, though I only tried the fight once, because I read that the recommended level to take him is level 70, and I couldn't be bothered to grind all the way to that. Or indeed to play the game again. I remember starting NG+, but I never continued.

Other than that, Capra Demon in Dark Souls (tried some 5-6 times, then went and played something else, I guess I'm some sort of casual gamer after all). He mows me down the moment I enter the room, and those two dogs that are following him are totally annoying, in the way, unnecessary and did I mention they were annoying? After having switched off the game for the night, I discovered that you can actually run in this game, now that would have been nice to know earlier! I probably read it in the tutorial, but by the end of the tutorial I'd already forgotten how to target stuff, so it's no surprise that I forgot you can run too.

I understand that everything in Dark Souls is out to kill me, but does it have to be so incessantly annoying about it??

Been awhile, but the final challenge boss from Vanquish kicked my ass.

It's basically two versions, at once, of the final boss, cranked up to 11, and a bunch of mini-bosses leading up to it. I must've tried that fight about 50 times before I called it. It was hard, but it was a fair kind of hard. If I kept working at it, I'd have gotten it, but it was starting to feel more & more like a job, rather than a game.

Jaguar Javier in Guacamelee.

Most likely (almost certainly in fact) to be something I'm doing wrong, but damn if I can't beat him no matter what I do.
I feel like if he telegraphs his attacks, I don't see them. There's no pattern that I can discern and his irritating ability to change between the two worlds while shielding himself from multiple types of attacks at once just feels so damn cheap.
I gave up after 20 tries.

That lava crab thing in Chantelise. Coupled with the lack of checkpoints, it made me give up on the game pretty quick. Unfortunate.

The boss I Struggle with the most right now is definitely the Smelter demon from Dark souls 2. Im not sure why but I just can't seem to dodge his attacks very well so I usually have to resort to either summoning others who throwing an entire Pikachu's worth of lightning spears at him.
