Brütal Legend, DJ Hero Ring Up Disappointing Sales

So, that's why I can hardly find any opponents in Brutal Legend multiplayer? I've got a PS3 version, so there are only 60000 people there and most of them are playing singleplayer... Still, I like Brutal Legend online despite it takes ages to find an opponent.

I also have Uncharted 2 but I don't wanna play it online, I've completed it on Hard and now trying to get at least 50 wins online in Brutal Legend before resuming Uncharted 2 on Crushing.

I always thought DJ Hero was going to be a waste. But I think Brutal Legend may just be a slow starter.

Please, people, buy Brutal Legend for PS3, I need some newcomers to defeat with my Tinted Coil army! BTW strategy element is much easier than, for example, Warcraft 3.

Seems like some here feel they have to retain some kind of loyalty to Tim Schafer. I share no such sentiment.

I save that for Warren Spector. ;)

This was posted on the Double fine blog. Can't help but think that it partly explains why the game wasn't a big hit with the typical HD console owner.

Because it doesn't look like Gears Of War 2 in terms of graphical fidelity? Devs shot themselves in the foot in that regard a long time ago.

Looking at the related videos of this kid, I think he's meant to be a bad version of yahtzee and he has a few entries of what games he thinks will suck, accompanied with random head/eye wear. He's getting some views though...

I wouldn't trust his judgement though, he has an entry called Madden NFL 2010 WILL SUCK, but I hear it's EA's best iteration yet!?
Meh, he's nothing like Yahtzee, people have been making videos about how they hate everything long before Yahtzee, and they'll do it long after.

And I'm like why is this kid like taking this game like way to seriously? I mean like what was this kid like thinking (probably like more ways he could like use "like" in a sentence) this game would be?.

I personally like *shudder* enjoy Brutal Legend, mainly cause it has some very good humour about it. And I have only just really got into Metal as a genre so that may have made the game even more fun :D

Making Brutal Legend an RTS and scamming gamers into thinking it was an action game until actual reviews came out was not a good idea.

I may be reading what you wrote wrong, but are you actually defending that kid? Please tell me I'm wrong because I have respect for you now, but I don't think I could if you are defending him.

I had high hopes for Brutal Legend. I accepted, on an intellectual level, that it was going to have RTS elements, but when that became the main crux of the game I totally lost interest. The atmosphere and the humor were awesome, but the RTS just killed it for me.

As for DJ Hero... maybe activision will stop milking the hero franchise like they have been now.

Fuck no, that kid is a complete jackass, and borderline retarded would probably be a compliment.

All I'm going to say is this:

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA for DJ Hero
That sucks for Brutal Legend
STOP BUYING WII FIT AND GO FOR A JOG!
Those sales for ODST just go to show anything with "Halo," on it will sell like hotcakes. If Halo Wars was called Army Men RTS it wouldn't have half the sales. Pretty sad how games today sell on labels and something original like Brutal Legend doesn't sell at all.
ah yes it didnt have anything to do with being a decent rts and brutal legend being a music came but had rts elements that turned a lot of people off who just would rather play music

i kind of figured DJ Hero was going to fail. Not gonna lie though, I do kind of want it lol. Brutal Legend is a great game but people wont buy it because there wasn't enough publicity for it besides Jack Black walking around with blow up muscles and his cool axe, which would make me not want it.

Can't say I'm surprised for either. DJ Hero doesn't have nearly the same appeal as Guitar Hero, at least to me anyway. Plus Brutal Legend is a very niche game (Tim Schafer fans, Jack Black fans, bearded 40 something metal heads who also play video games), though I'm glad it did a hell of a lot better than most of his games.

Well, DJ Hero had it coming. I didn't have high hopes at all for it.

Though for Brutal Legend, I just played the demo last night (though it's been on PS3 forever) and I actually liked it. Not sure I liked it enough to pay full price right now but it was still fun.

Brutal Legend looks interesting, but it's not one I'm in a rush to get a hold on. DJ Hero? Not going to bother. I'm sure there are a fair number of people who want to pretend they're mixing and scratching, but I doubt the appeal is as great as people pretending to play guitars or beat the hell out of some drums.

On that video, why does Jack Black instantly turn people off? He's not my favorite guy ever, but he's pretty funny and he's just doing the voice of a character. Why is that a big deal for people?

I bought Brutal legend on relase day and loved every single non-gaming bit of it ,the script was brilliant the landscape pure awesome as was the soundtrack and the voicework was by and large brilliant )except for Lemmy but that shouldn`t suprise anyone in the slightest given his attitude towards big buisness and "the establishment" but the gameplay was atrocious the controls were okay ,but the combat doesn`t gel very well and the RTS sections were downright painful towards the end

As for DJ hero i`m not a big fan of the club scene but i would`ve thought it`d be more popular than guitar hero simply because club(shit)/hip-hop(can be good)/drum n`bass(shit) music is popular with the chavs of the world

It just makes me sad in where we live in a world where a game with 8 minigames can actually beat a Tim Schafer game.
