Captain Commando is basically Final Fight 2 (a better Final Fight 2 than the official sequel)with a dash and more weapons. The game is at its best when co-oping with 3 or more people. Battle Circuit is pretty much the spiritual successor to CC.

So I went and reinstalled SOR4
Man... Idk wtf happened last time I played, but the game feels pretty stiff. Like stiff as in moving around, and I don't mean "oh everybody has a slow walk speed" type stiff. I mean I'm playing Adam and Cherry, and I don't really remember the game feeling so jagged.

It's funny you mention that, as Axel did get a speed boost in the first update to the game. I played a few weeks ago, and Cherry especially is the least stiff feeling character in the default roster. She never felt stiff to me. Adam is only stiff, if you don't know how to slide cancel his combos properly, Big guys like Floyd and Max Thunder feel rightly stiff.
I think I just need to get used to the game again, going for a Mania+ 1cc with either Cherry or Adam.
Also, this is still probably the best modern beat em up that has come out.
No wonder. Enemies move twice or three times as fast, so it makes all the characters look stiff by comparison
