Everyone's WRONG!

It's obviously a Shadowrun clone, albeit with a chance of not sucking.
I mean, the artistic style is similar, it is trying to "move forward" team based FPS's, and I'm really hyped for it only to likely be left disappointed. Granted it's taking a bit more influence from Battlefield with it's objective systems, rather than counter-strike, and it has an "innovative" free running button, and I'm not very informed about the actual game, but I'm still gonna draw the parallel, because that STILL fits a hell of a lot better than comparing it to TF2 does.

I was actually somewhat interested.

Then I saw the price.

$90 AUD.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahehehheeee... fuck off.
You can get it way cheaper from D2D, I think. And it's still steam activated, worth a look.
Oh hey, you're right. $49.95. Now that's more like...

Well, crap. Screwed again.

Oh well, I appreciate the attempt nonetheless.

Maybe Amazon can do me some justice...
Well shit. I guess it is going to be stupid expensive for you then.
Yeh buying games in Australia is basically a rip off...however, you can get it from www.ozgameshop.com for way less around 50 AUD for console and like 40 AUD for PC...free delivery to Australia too :) http://www.ozgameshop.com/search/Brink

Free running, full customisation, custom guns, abilities, team based multiple objectives, class based objectives (inspired by quake wars), interesting setting with a background, single/multi player combined.

There's a lot about it to keep people interested in it.

And people who just say it's a TF2 clone (not aimed at OP) - put it this way console TF2 has I think never been updated, it's like 3 maps no extra weapons etc.

So a nice, updated + balanced all the time shooter like this is a good thing for all players, especially console players. (there's an interview on updates/balance on the brink site)

...Uh what? Battlefield has stand in an area to capture or plant a bomb - how is that similar to build turrets, escort VIPs/robots, steal disguises, open shortcuts, buff teammates etc?

Objective system is designed off Enemy Territory - Quake Wars. They talk about that being an inspiration for it a lot.

It looks really interesting. It's probably the only multiplayer game I'm going to be getting this year. The controls look smooth, and the gameplay doesn't look like a COD ripoff. Also, the amount of customization is INCREDIBLE! And that just stuff that I've seen from beta showings and such. Also, with the SMART movement in the game, it seems like it'll be really hard to have camping noobs win the day.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to it.

It's like what Mirror's Edge would be if you had guns in a multiplayer context. Added customization, higher degree of mission variety, some story, and (from my view) greater class distinction all give it a one-up on the current FPS's out there. The hype and buzz are a result in people looking forward to what should be a great game.

The campaign is just all of the multiplayer maps, but played in order and with bots. THAT'S NOT SINGLE PLAYER, it's multiplayer with bots.
That approach to single-player didn't stop Left 4 Dead from being a blast to play.

It feels new and sounds different from the average COD clone FPS these days. And the fact you think it feels like TF2 is a good thing. TF2 is fun. Personally it makes me think of APB's custimisation mixed with fun TF2 gameplay and objectives that constantly change.

Now I have to ask a question, BRINK OR L.A. NOIRE which should I pre-order I can't decide!

Except for the fact that Left4Dead's single player was boring as hell with pretty crappy survivor AI.

TF2 didn't invent classes or cel-shading and last I checked, Splash Damage did Wolfenstein ET before TF2 even existed, but hey... they're just ripping off Valve, right? Yeah, no...
You seem to be forgetting Team fortress Classic, or the original quake mod, which all had classes.

When I get pounced by a hunter and Louis just stands 2 feet away from me watching the hunter pull off my nipples until I'm dead I'd say that crappy survivor AI is fact, not opinion.

Sorry, I was referring to the 'boring' part, not the crappy AI (which I agree can be incredibly crappy).

Reason: fairly high profile game whose teaser trailer looks a bit different.

Time will tell if it actually becomes popular. Probably not, as popular MP games tend to be attached to popular franchises or publishers... but if people dig it's single player campaign it could make the cut.

Oh, I know... but I believed using contemporary examples might confuse less people.
Anyway, I don't believe any developer holds the rights to a game discribed as "having classes, teamplay and a first-person camera".

its being touted as a new breed of FPS, which thanks to Koticks sterilisation of the genre is cause for celebration.

Whether or not it lives upto that moniker is another matter, but Im pretty tempted by it nonetheless

i see it more as a cell shaded cod killer, i mean i see it being pretty hard to camp in a corner when A) you ve got those big fuckers who can tote around gattling guns and B) there cant be many places to hide when certain classes have the option to vault over cover and take you out from above, looks like fun, that is if the PSN ever see's the light of digital day again

The multiplayer is really tiny, apparently 8v8. Similar TF2 modes, and roughly a stupid amount of customization. It just seems so meh. The hype is a bubble that may pop or it will actually be an insanely good game. But from what it looks like it just seems like a blands knock off. The "missions" from videos I've seen just look like regular MP modes with npcs. Fun stuff.
