Aren't you forgetting a small detail called the USSR..?spartandude said:but as someone said about Killzone, theres no excuse for that, i mean the country the main country that stood against the nazis from 1939-1945 gets shown as nazis and we are expected to take that, if they showed a game where we were fighting space soviets with american accents thered be hell to pay
Except for the Tau, a race entirely voiced by Hikaru Sulu.Cracker3011 said:In fact, the Warhammer 40k universe is entirely made up of british accents. For example, the Orks are a race of green cockney chavs.
Live in Australia.thaluikhain said:Well, Britain does happen to be part of Europe. Also, while I can see why that'd be annoying, can you, off the top of your head, list the names and cultural features of every nation in Europe? If not, how can you expect people living on another continent to do so?Sizzle Montyjing said:We all need individual identities as a country, which is why it annoys me when i say i'm from britain and people go 'Oh, you mean europe?'
Oh man, how dare they not put The Great Britannia on the pedestal that she deserves?!Sizzle Montyjing said:and with these crappy release dates we get it always feels like we're just being lumped in with 'the rest of the world'. Hardly any individuality.

Britain is usually lumped in I agree but you guys do get easily the best character in Reach, Jorge. I'd take that.
Wait, what? They aren't the same person? You sure?Maldeus said:Gandhi=/=GadaffiYawningAngel said:We are? Militarily, Gadaffi is no more of a problem for the UK than he is for the US.Maldeus said:And now you're a third-rate world power struggling to keep its place as at all relevant on the global stage and can't even stand up to Gandhi. What's your point?YawningAngel said:I've got a pretty damn good reason: my country had a globe-spanning empire and was the most powerful on earth for hundreds of years, and theirs wasn't.thaluikhain said:A good number, yes, but there will still be a number that are forgotten. You aren't going to remember everyone, there's no particular reason why those islands off the coast of France should be amongst those that are.YawningAngel said:Actually we generally can, most people living here can name a good number of European countries and associated addenda (language, capital, head of state, etc.)Well, Britain does happen to be part of Europe. You can argue for more nations that aren't the US to included in games, but to ask why your country isn't included without worrying about the hundreds of others that aren't seems rather hypocritical. Excluding things such as historical games, when the nation in question played a significant part.

Easy to tell apart. One has sunglasses, the other just plain glasses.Maldeus said:Yes. I checked.thaluikhain said:Wait, what? They aren't the same person? You sure?
Although...Has anyone ever seen them in the same place at the same time? It's not that hard to rewrite the Wikipedia pages, after all.Iwata said:Easy to tell apart. Miranda Lawson in Mass Effect 2.gentleben said:A harder challenge would be some Australian characters. With the exception of Under a Steel Sky (which was set in a future, distopian Australia where everyone speaks with an American accent), there aren't many other games set in Australia, or featuring Australians.
So what you're saying is that when super-powerful Ghaddafi takes off his cape and puts on his glasses, he becomes mild-mannered Ghandi?Maldeus said:Although...Has anyone ever seen them in the same place at the same time? There were Aussies in Army of T.W.O. the 40th Day. They even wore Akubras!gentleben said:Daniel, the protagonist of Amnesia: The Dark Descent is English.
I think Professor Layton might be as well (although you could just as easily argue he exists in another universe).
Lara Croft is British, Cammy and Birdie from Street Fighter, the protagonist of No One Lives Forever was British, Everyone in GTA: London 1969...

I'm pretty sure she was english wasn't she?monty2k said:Also what about Chloe Frazer, the Aussie love interest from Uncharted 2?
I'm just saying the resemblance between the two is similar enough that we might want to send an attractive female journalist of approximately the same age who works for the same newspaper to investigate the possibility.Iwata said:So what you're saying is that when super-powerful Ghaddafi takes off his cape and puts on his glasses, he becomes mild-mannered Ghandi?Maldeus said:Although...Has anyone ever seen them in the same place at the same time?
