I propose that Claire Perry goes and fucks herself.

I also propose that parents start learning how to actually look after their kid... Though I'm very much doubting the parents of Britain will fall for this shit. At least not the majority. Will I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Though if Robby below my message is to be believed... It doesn't matter anyway. Though it would be nice for a source on this. It does seem a pipe dream for idiots though, for people that don't know how to raise there children. Not only that... Can't you like... Child lock your computer to prevent this?.

This is late. The ISPs already told them it was a stupid idea and an impossible task.
Where did you hear that?
BBC News.

The ISPs essentially say it's too much hassle, and a pipe dream for "PROTECT THE CHILDREN" idiots.

I don't believe it, but if this goes through, I'm going to become one of those 1984 Down with the Nanny state doomsday predicty people.

I couldn't care less for the porn, but if the government can successfully ban this, they can ban other, more "legitimate" stuff, which forces things like wikileaks to "put international security at risk".

Gov: please stop digging yourself a hole

Still, the fact that people want and are actively campaigning for this unprecedented level of censorship is certainly frightening...

Why is "They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

the first thing that came to my mind?

I'm all for not educating minors on titties, but this I don't buy. This may sound bitter, but I'm really looking forward to the time when most of the "think of the children" crowd is six-feet under.
This pretty much summarizes my feelings.

Urgh.

All this amounts to is "I'm too damn thick to set up my computer to block adult content so the government should do it for me." Those people shouldn't be allowed to own computers in the first place, or at least have to pass some kind of computer literacy test to be able to subscribe to Internet Service Providers.

They're just looking for someone to blame. "It's the government's fault my child was able to look at this. It's their fault my child started smoking. It's their fault my child's doing drugs." No. No it isn't. It's your fault. Sort it out.

I find it ironic that the people calling for the government to "protect" our children are the same ones calling for an end to big government...
That is a very good statement bro, but I think its unfair to the conservative side with that. There are too contradictory parts of the conservative movement...1. Small government 2. Use the government to promote socially conservative means.

Their are two different types of conservative....#2 makes me sick, #1 I can see their point as a valid political statement.

Porn on the internets cannot be touched by the United States Congress because of the Scarcity Doctrine, meaning that the government can regulate media that is scare, and I see no scarcity on the internet so it would frankly be unconstitutional.

Interesting, since, you know, reps from both TalkTalk and Virgin Media went on record today saying the idea of a wide-ranging porn filter is feasible, and it's just a matter of figuring out what approach to take.

"We already have an opt-in approach on mobiles. We're able to block sites, so it would be possible to do the same on the internet. It is just about finding the right approach." - Virgin Media
