Ahem...

Hey idiots! It's not because of videogames! It's because you allowed universities to raise tuition by 300%, and now nobody can afford to get a higher education anymore! IT'S BECAUSE YOU'VE DOOMED AN ENTIRE GENERATION TO CHOOSE BETWEEN LIVES OF ECONOMIC MISERY OR LIVES OF IGNORANCE AND MEDIOCRITY!"

That is all.

its alms0ot as if the officer and commenter turned their brain on afterwards, realized how moronic they were and didnt allow to sue their names. or maybe they were afraid all the people who can use brains would come banging on thier doors?

Inspired by GTA London or GTA? I'll argue both, 10 year olds would not remember GTA London and the GTA series does not feature riots or looting
In GTA: San Andreas (one people from 10 years ago will remember surely) there was a mission to loot a persons home while he was sleeping. you could go on looting other houses freely at night without a mission for cash too. (though the pay sucked)

Seriously? Grand Theft Auto? Do people know anything about these games? I pity those who lived before videos games. Whatever did they have to scapegoat? Well people I think we can all agree that common sense is well and truly dead.

I have been paying attention to this and this is the first I've heard about games being to blame.
I don't think anyone is taking that story seriously. The journalist probably just couldn't be bothered to write a real article.

Is anyone honestly surprised? Hell, I wouldn't be if they started saying that video games cause AIDS. Games are "new" so they're the go-to scapegoat for any kind of situation.

Video games are so prevalent now, it's inevitable that some of these rioters play video games on a regular basis. These accusations are akin to blaming Colgate tooth paste for inciting violence among teens.

It's amazing all these inbred nob-tards could drag their drug-atrophied arses off their stolen couches infront of their stolen PS3's long enough to break some shit.

This is a solomn warning against the dangers of videogame related violence. Back in the '30s when Hitler first played #GENERIC GAME WITH GUNS# he decided to go bat-shit crazy.

Stupid news papers.

Plus, our illustrious Prime Minister, What's-His-Name, has authorised the use of baton rounds.
Who's that gonna kill? Not enough of them, that's for sure. Break out the 9x19 and I'm sure that would solve the problem quicker.

I'm from the UK and can remember State of Emergency. People are idiots for blaming video games for violence when it is there own fault for not teaching children about respect and being a good person. I don't know about you but i didn't see anyone running around with assault rifles or bludgeoning people to death with their own torn off limbs or summoning efrit to burn shops (but i did see a guy dressed as a wizard). The 'people' rioting are scum who need some discipline, or a honey badger to the balls.

It's obviously Grand Theft Auto's fault. That's why so many American cities are also being torn apart by uncontrollable violence.

Oh. Wait.

As far as I know I've not heard a lot of blame on gaming, but I've seen a lot of comments about class and certain areas and the country that are apparently 'sick' according to the PM. I imagine this would be a lot worse in Australia, somehow...

I wondered how long it would take some sensational shit paper to come out with something like this. -_-

Sports have caused far more riots than video games (which have spawned zero). Lets ban sports

Has nothing to do with the level of poverty in Britain or the fact that the government has been cutting alot of things for the young people and that the education is at a all time low, no,no has nothing to do with that but VIDEO GAMES! EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!!

An obviously non-gaming related incident blamed on games rather than logical, painfully obvious reasons? *Gasp* Talk about beating a dead horse...

Imagine my surprise.

This was going to happen. The thing that I find so funny about all of this is that anyone who's ever played GTA knows that it's more a satire on this sort of thing than it is a "simulator" for any it.

God damn it, I thought my country had the brains to move past stuff like this. We've mostly shed our vestiges of being a religious-run society, we've got Charles Darwin on our fucking money, but apparently when the chips are down we're still a bunch of sensationalist fuckbaskets just like our aggressive neighbours from across the pond.

When are the people who claim this shit going to realise it is a big leap from "press 'X' to hit a cop with a baseball bat" to actually hitting a real cop?

I mean come on, I've been playing violent video games my whole life! One of the very first games I played was Grand Theft Auto 2 and you know what my body count was? Neither do I, because it got too high too fast for me to keep count! Yet I vent my frustrations through the games, I don't use them as training simulators so I can go out and take out my frustration on real innocent people!

Just... I hate this place.

I would easily welcome a ban on Football and Rugby, I really would. We don't have American sports as big things here, so nobody riots about the Packers not getting 1st down.
