I guess it could be kinda fun in an insane way. It does seem, also, like another 'Notched pickaxe' kinda thing (make your own house and dick about - sound familiar?).
Wonder if you can make a dungeon, chain the kids up and spray them with Dr. Pepper (the agnostic drink) if they answer with any certainties?
Might be fun if you could just collect all the kids and make it like a more terrifying version of Pokemon.
In the idea of having your own kids: could have God of War style mini-games for it, and then it would be pretty fascinating to see the offspring of an Argonian (my char) with a Dunmer (Brelyna, who i married cos she was the first woman I found that I could marry).
In all seriousness, it does seem a kinda redundant DLC on the whole, but it could have fun bits, and you can customise your character a lot, so why not his home, rather than just his appearance and skills? Now just gotta wait to see when it comes out on PC, if my laptop can run it (can do base game, not Dawnguard I think), if I haven't clogged my HDD with more games, how far overdrawn I am, how my doctorate is going, and if I ever find a girl who doesn't have a boyfried/pepper-spray...

Adopt the rabble from the streets???
I want to inseminate my wife with my own mighty sperm and create true, heirs worthy of my godly loot.

I don't think I'll be in a rush to get this, to be honest. Seems like a lot of work for very little payoff.
Especially considering that the homes they give us serve my purpose well enough.

I know it's only 400 MSPoints but it doesn't seem to add too much. And children have basically one model for male and female so I don't really care to have a clone around.

Umm... call me weird but, I think I'd rather "create" my own children rather than adopt. Of course, it's nice that the option to adopt is THERE, but why can't my spouse and I do our part in populating the land of Skyrim? Perhaps even put in some kind of feature where the appearance of your little sprouts is based on you and your spouses appearance.

Just saying...

That would be perfect that is what they should of done adopt and create and the feature of making them look similar to your spouse would stop the devs from trying to create a child from the infinite possibility's of your character. Thus keeping it simple and allowing more freedom to create a family. The adoption is good for same sex marriage but us straight folk should be allowed our own children.

Pff. This is a downgrade from Oblivion. One of the house expansions in THAT game was a freaking CASTLE! Come on, this is Skyrim! Land of the Nords! Why can't I make my player house into a huge Bastion with walls thicker than modern-day Battleships, hundreds of achers lining the walls, thousands of soldiers training inside, an elite team of the best warriors in all Tamriel guarding my throne, and a collection of everyone else's possessions and their children in my basement?

So it's like Fable with good gameplay to back it up?
No, Fable has better gameplay.

But on topic, I'm looking forwards to this just so I can custom tailor it. Many of the player ones are too damn big or elaborate for my tastes. I'd like something nifty but reasonable.

This sounds like fun, I was surprised how much I enjoyed buying and kitting out my houses.

Though I have to admit, I'd be much happier if it also gave you a larger marryable people pool. Brynjolf or Ulfric, please!

(Yes, yes, I know there's a mod for this for the PC. My laptop isn't capable of running Skyrim, so it's Xbox only for me.)

So I take it we are stuck with a mundane cottage.
It's a trailer, it's not there to show you every single house type and layout.

Oh holy shit! It comes out on my birtday!!!

With that said...
Back when I used to play Oblivion not stop, this was one of the things I had really hoped for.
Now it seems too much like the shallowness of Fable. I was hoping for more of a story--I am willing to make a trade off though: this better add a shit-load of content. I'm talking about spralling house add-ons, tons of items to decorate rooms with, tons of different room to build.

Also, why can't I make a creepy half nord, half argonian baby with my wife, why do I have to adopt? And is there more than just nord/imperial children to adopt. I expected this kind of Argonian racism in Oblivion, but Skyrim? Really? It's been like 200 years.

EDIT:
Can't wait to see the endless number of videos Machinma is going to make with this.
Personally, I'd love to see a "Great Expectations" Skyrim video.

Not interested. Why would anyone care about building there own house in a game that came out months ago? Would be more interesting if this was part of the game when it was sold. Pretty useless now. Plus, Skyrim was boring and i have no interest in replaying it, which is weird as i played both Oblivion and Morrowind many times over.

Oh well. I guess some people will love this dlc, the idea is good, just a bit to late.

My house is just going to be a single room, filled with countless book shelves for the gazillions of books I've been collecting. It shall be a library to rival that of the College of Winterhold! Or perhaps I'll just steal all their books...

1. Build bare-bones blockhouse. 2. Decorate it as dungeon like as possible. 3. Adopt every child you can in Skyrim. 4. Keep them all locked up inside. 5. There is no "???" 6. Profit.
1) Start a new game
2) Make your character an elf with a sharp chin and cheek bones, pail skin, and long black hair.
3) Become a famous bard
4) Build a big house and name it "Never Land" and fill it with things kids like.
5) Adopt ever child in the game.
6) Profit.

I know they said they were aiming at more 'micro' DLCs, but I would kill for another shivering isles. That, to me, set a standard for all xpac content.

From a technical standpoint, we will need to create pregnancy meshes for both the Dovahkin and the female NPCs who ineveitably get pregnant. A new NPC for babies and then wait 9 years before they become children NPCs.
