okay and how much is this "land" going to cost me, because buying a preexisting house in skyrim is like taking it up the ass from a dwarven centurion. ridiculous amounts of money for someplace you wont go to hardly at all save for inventory dumps, or collecting a meal or money from your spouse. also am i going to have to level up a skill tree for house building? also why adopt a child, why can the mighty dovakiin not simply bang or get banged as the case may be and produce a child that way? its not like the actual passage of time matters one damn bit

Sorry, I just had to give you a hug after I read this. -hugs you- I can appreciate not getting a game for silly reasons, I've had a few myself.
Really? Can it be as dumb as being scared of one enemy that, according to my friends, don't even appear very often?
I don't like playing the original pokemon games, because missingno creeps me the hell out. :p

Furthermore, really? The Sims: Skyrim? Is this a fucking joke? I don't go to Skyrim when I want to build and design a crappy cottage and adopt some twerp, I go to Skyrim to be the fothermucking dragonborn.
I came here to say precisely this thing, yet I was too slow. This person expressed my feelings perfectly.

Skyrim is not a dating sim, it's not Medieval Monsterhouse and it's not not the point of this game!
I have absolutely no idea why would they do this DLC.

Because the fact that there was a mod for this out shortly after the game was released tells them that there is in fact a market for it? And that since console gamers can't do mods, then anyone interested in more interactive family/house options will probably buy the dlc?

Some people come to slay monsters, some people like doing more mundane things and then going out to slay monsters. Plus here's how I see it.

Drop 60 dollars on a game I technically already own, plus say maybe 20 or 30 on computer parts to make sure it runs without crashing or raping my graphics engine, so that I can download the mod 'free'

Or spend 5 dollars on dlc which gives me the same experience with fewer bugs (hopefully) and a few nifty extra features. Obviously I'm going to go with the 5 dollar option as opposed to the 90 dollar option and that's cash in the developer's pocket which encourages them to make more bonus features which perhaps people who are more combat focused will enjoy. I don't really see a losing side here.

And yet AGAIN, I find that all efforts to pander to me from the company (thanks guys! I love it!) are crushed on this bloody website, so yet AGAIN I sit in a corner, mumbling "but Little Lamplight was awesome..." to myself until the big mean kid-haters go away.

Because there's demand for it. See: Me.

Please tell me they're not charging for this fucking Horse Armour 2.0
Someone please make a PC mod exactly the same as this so they can't fleece us like the console monkeys.
Here's a thought..don't fucking buy it? Believe or not the world doesn't revolve around you PC gamers.
Ya, use mods to screw over developers. That will make em want to let you mod their next games.

Edit: Quoted wrong post, meant for the first one, not the person who told him not to buy it.

So Bethesda, this is cool and all, but me and my Compatriots in the Sony camp are still waiting for Dawnguard, any word on when we'll be getting that?

Wait....I saw this on machinima the other day. This isn't a troll? Seriously? So...we turn Skyrim into what basically amounts to vanilla Fable for 360 users, yet don't give Ps3 or PC players Dawnguard?

When did companies stop thinking before doing things?

I'm not. I'm upset that DG isn't out for PS3 and they're already starting on other DLC.
Dawnguard was an expansion pack. This is DLC. There is a massive difference between the two. This is what PROPER DLC is. Small, easy to make content at a reasonably cheap price.
Either way, they should fix the issues with not releasing DG on PS3 first before starting anything else.

Do not want. Also being on PS3, I probably won't even get the option to NOT buy it until next May.

I haven't had a file that owned a house in a long time, but I liked Proudspire Manor considerably.

I have no plans to get married in game again as I already had my trophy wife. I don't want children in RL, why would I want to adopt one in Skyrim? The only kid in the game currently that isn't a total ass is Mila Valentia's Daughter and if you marry her I guess you kind of adopt her anyways. How would that work out exactly? You can adopt and play with your adopted DLC kids, but your step daughter is just kind of there like a house cat.

I mean depending on the available locations, and architectural options it could be a very nice addition to the game. It just isn't for me.

My own bard would be nice I guess, assuming that they can actually sing. The guy in Riverwood, and Whiterun are okay. I forget which, but one of the most attractive lady bards absolutely cannot sing and I think its rather unfortunate. I'm sure it was intentional, but I would seriously pay her to shut up.

Having to fend off skeevers and giants isn't my idea of something I want to pay extra to experience. I never let dragons spawn in my game, but one advantage cities have is that they have guards and walls. I would hate to be one of those poor sods without a wall...

No doubt that the DLC was inspired by this mod:

so, essentially kill all the parents in skyrim, adopt all the children and never return to your castle on the side of an active volcano
no more children Lovely. cheese for everyone.
sounds like the plot for the next despicable me*1

also, why cant i have my own? i smell laziness although pregnant dragon hunters may not go down well with some, it could be highly amusing.

also, i'm Saxhleel so would i lay an egg? :D

That's....Pretty darn cheap for a feature like this. I wonder what they're hiding from us. DLC furniture perhaps?

None the less i'm buying it.
I'm thinking it's so drastically new, that...

Well, their games where buggy when they stuck to what they knew!

Well, I'm sold.

Although, what would you bring you children for gifts? Most of the things the player can carry in Skyrim are meant to kill people, to eat, hold things that you eat, and things related to killing people.

Maybe adding some children's toys with the expansion?
Haven't you ever read Hogfather? Leathal Weaponry makes a great gift!

OP: At first, I was skeptical of this, but then I saw the price. Only $5 dollars? Seems like a good buy, to me.

Oh great, I can adopt kids. Can they carry loot?

More to the point, one thing I would like to do is to own big lunks of land, and also have an army to defend it. Less house, more castle. Add to this the jagged crown and the fact I'm both the richest person and greatest warrior in Skyrim, and I detect a sense of megalomania here.

Add Fus Ro Dah as a dialogue option, while you're at it. That'll shut Maul up when you meet him, the cocky yet immortal bastard.
Are you on PC? If so, might I point you towards a nifty little mod called "Tundra Defense" http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22330
It's a mod where you find an empty piece of land, build a little outpost there, and upgrade it and defend it against raids. I got it a few days ago and while it's still not complete and there are some bugs from it, it's still a lot of fun. My main problem is that I'm using a lower level character who isn't filthy rich yet, and I'm investing all of my money into my outpost for just like 6 guards and a few pieces of walls.

OT: If this DLC can differentiate itself enough from the many house mods, my favourite being the Dovahkiin Retreat, then I might buy this as it seems fun to me.

You know, I really enjoy fancying the thought of finally building my own tediously thorough home. Especially if I can make it Dwemer themed. But isn't it a little early to be introducing this concept? Last time I checked, which was about three weeks ago, they still haven't fixed the glitch that causes all of your stuff to go flying around the house every time the interior is loaded up again when you leave and re-enter. I've spent hours before personalizing my house. Just to leave and come back to find my crap thrown around everywhere like Cthulu himself came a-strollin'-by. They need to fix this damnable bug first, before ever adding in the customizable houses feature.
