I never thought I'd see soo much complaining over something you don't even have to get.

So they worked on some new stuff while the game was being put on to disks, packaged, and shipped. Would you rather they just finish the thing and say "On to the next one!"?

Oh God... It just came out... really? And I thought Day 1 DLC was bad... wait, it is still bad...

*weeps*
Well it isn't out yet guys. It's a day 1 DLC announcement, not a day 1 DLC release.
It doesn't matter, the simple fact that they are announcing DLC this early is enough. DLC should generally be created entirely after the game is released and once it's been out a while. DLC like this which is finished right when the game is, is more like stuff they decided to cut from the game and decided to try and get you to pay more money for.

What's more with the way this was annouced right off the bat, it seems to me like this content might already be on the disc, and your just paying for an unlock.
You sir, read this

Christ, what did you think they were doing all that time? They finish the game, they do something else. They don't get paid to do nothing.

Why are people still surprised that anything with an EA logo on it gets DLC pushed out the door after/on release? Is there a bout of short term memory loss going around?

This is why I miss the days when consoles weren't connected to the internet: because when you bought a game THE ENTIRE GAME WAS ON IT!!

Who wants to bet that since it's EA, the DLC will exclude PC and already be in the game awaiting someone to crack it for everyone?

You know what I constantly find myself thinking?

"I just paid $60 for this videogame, but what I really meant to do was pay $70 or maybe even $80 instead."

Oh wait. No I don't.

this is EXACTLY why i wait for games to go down in price, so by the time i have all the DLC i would have paid £40 or less.

people say that u should try to fund the game devs to bring out better future games but seriously ur just funding the publishers sports cars and mansions.

FWAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! I freakin' love you, man.

Also, last I checked, forums like these were meant for people to express their opinions/thoughts/whatever. Some of us really don't like having our wallets pecked at by every dev and publisher for a few map packs or some omitted feature.

What part of "SET to come out this SPRING" don't you people understand? It could come out as late as May for all we know and just because it's set to come out in spring that doesn't mean there won't be an issue that causes a delay.

no, we tend to try and ignore the EA stigma

People are more inclined to shell out a few bucks for a DLC on a game's release date because they're already buying a whole game. What's a few extra dollars for some bonus content?
See, if the DLC was released later, those who played the game and didn't like it would'nt have bothered spending extra money on it.
From a business standpoint this is just a money-grabbing strategy.
From every other standpoint, it's point-blank douchebaggery...
At least Call of Duty waited for people to get tired of it's maps before releasing new ones...

Was that aimed at me? Because I'm totally on your side. Only 1 DLC has ever been worth every penny. Oh LotSB, why can't all DLC be as epic as you... :3

All the BF:BC2 DLCs were free (Except for Vietnam, which more of an expansion), and goddamn these maps were actually beautifully crafted.
Not if you bought a used copy *sniffle sniffle*...
Which sadly is fair, since the Publishers/Developers never see any of that money ;)

True.
So frustrating to see so many gamers who don't understand how games are made.
