That's bully behavior 101 there for ya. Didn't the dad say he WASN'T ashamed of his child's actions... ;/ I see where the kid got his behaviour from now. Today tonight turned against him in the second air of viewing anyway. The kid's reputation is well deserved.

The original story was in an Australian News letter. People have been making up their own story that seem to fit the film. Most people are ill informed.

Riiight. You know, this wimpy kid's claim doesn't hold water for several reasons, but the one I hold in my mind right now is that obviously the Casey kid could have owned him at any time, and he could've done alot worse than he did. He didn't, though, or else we'd be hearing about THAT. And I mean from a more reliable source.

EDIT: BTW, this reminded me of an old Three Stooges bit. Shemp tries to take on a tough guy with his dancing around and zipping around, and then the tough guy punches his lights out in one hit. From now on, we should refer to Richard as "Shemp".

Ritchard was in the wrong, and he deserved the bodyslam, but does he deserve the entire internet hating him? Hell no! He is a kid. He may be lieing about the "he bullied me first" bullshit, but really, do we need to demonize him further? He is twelve! He has already got enough hatred on him.

so not only is he irritating, aggressive, ugly as a kangaroo's arse spread sideways, but also quite retarded if that's the best excuse he could come up with.

He's gonna make a nice window-cleaner one day.

I've had heard many Bullies say "He Started it" or "I didn't do it" (the later does not work here, as there is proof).

It is fair to an extent to judge someone from a piercing but damn some people here are really quick to lay down judgement >.>
[sub]In this situation it could be justified but damn...[/sub]

Yeah... when you want to get back at a bully, you calmly taunt them whilst surrounded by friends and begin beating them up.

Totally justified... sarcasm!

Meh. The kid's full of shit. But sadly he's just trying to make sense of this thing that has grown out of hand. The consequences do not match up to the task and so he sees himself as being the bullied, not the bully. You could say that he has a fair point except he doesn't have to imply that Casey is lying to get people to agree with him.

You can clearly see in the video that Ritchard was being goaded into the whole schtick and that his "friends" were taunting Heynes. It's pretty mesed up as the kid is obviously showing signs of pent up anger issues, possibly stemming from the fact that he doesn't know how to deal with his parents' being apart, or whatever--yeah, I went there, I've seen cases where that same situation fucks with kids ' minds enough to make them want to lash out.

Though his dad's rocking a hell of a hairdo. Good for him.

I feel no sympathy for him at all. He's clearly bullshitting. I do feel sorry for the parents though. It must be humiliating to have have your failure so blatantly displayed to the world.

Yeah, the kids lying, he's a little shit, he got what was coming to him.

But REALLY? Should we, the internet, care this much about a school yard tussle?

Answer: NO!

no one else does not the teachers not the school not the bullies parents maybe even the victims parents someone caring is by far over due.

schools are more interested in sweeping it under the carpet and trying to look good than actually solving anything. parents seem to have an aversion to parenting.

Even if Haynes said something to him before this film, its clear that he wasn't the type to bully a smaller kid by the fact that he was completely passive while Gale punched him in the face, then started prancing around with his fists raised. Also, all the points originally made, about the group, the camera and everything, don't mesh with the idea of a kid standing up to a bully. The Escapist has clearly made up its mind here, but I'd be interested to know how many outside of this website have been misled by this transparent attempt to shift his bad reputation to his victim.

Just one thing to put up there Greg:

ACA = News Programme.

Today tonight = Sensationalist media.

Though they're both on the same channel just at different times.
