Cool, can't wait for them to announce their next boring, under-featured FPS then.
I think everyone who is reporting you needs to grow some balls and accept other people might now actually like things they like.
And to also stop saying "Reported" every time. Last I heard, doing that could get you some Mod Wrath.

OT: It shall be interesting to see what Bungie does next. Lets just hope Activision doesn't make them churn out games year by year. :p

They're going to screw with everyone by putting out a shooter with health packs and no regenerating health.

That would be just fantastic.

Also, no limit on what weapons you can hold, and melee and grenades are no longer their own buttons, but separate weapons.

Oh, the hilarity...

Little more on topic, I'm just glad it isn't an MMO. Looking forward to seeing what it really is.

Oh I heard of this, I can't wait for Ring, some generic, cardboard cutout alien with zero personality, starring in a generic, cookie-cutter, console FPS. The story is about some Space virus cult trying to protect some space ring weapon to kill off the growing threat of Nameless, Faceless, one dimensional Space Marines trying to assimilate every race they encounter... Hmmm, Sounds familiar... Apparently it will be a series of 30 games, or just the same game released 30 times, no one will probably notice, Bungie is pretty sure nobody noticed last time.
I lol'd pretty hard at this and I like halo its fun in my opinion. I agree with you the games are this only with less exaggeration lol. The books though I think they do add more to the story but they are nothing like Ender's Game.

OT: I do hope to hear something about what they r doing next soon and I doubt it will have anything to do with halo. The first was the best and it went downhill from there but Reach is a good time and second best. A new MMO would have been interesting though if they did not try to be WoW and fail like everyone else except for blizzard lol

As opposed to what other full-featured amazing shooters? Call of Duty? Battlefield? Crysis 2? Please. Each of those is just as generic and unoriginal as Halo. Doesn't mean they're bad.

Halo has always been good. Anyone saying otherwise really doesn't deserve an opinion. Maybe it isn't super original or genre-defining, but it has always been good at the very least.

They already tried HOLA-MMO, and scrapped it pretty quickly considering they were making WoW2.0 with a HOLA twist.

Point in case, Bungie simply doesn't have the 'back knowledge' to create an MMO unless they teamed up with another studio, which they don't like doing a whole lot.

So please, give this MMO-Bungie tie in a rest people...it will never happen, and if does, wait for some Trailers to at least confirm it.

But in fairness, Oni was made by Bungie West, and that was their only game. Technically a different studio.
Technically different studio but most of the guys there got pushed back into the original studio, you are right though.

so it's not this then what are they working on and why won't they tell us I'm starting to lose faith that they haven't closed down but are trying to hide that fact

By 'mouse look', do you mean using the mouse to look around? Because if so, Half-Life (at the very least - cba to think of more FPS that came out before Halo) has it beat.

If you mean something else entirely, I apologise.

Do some research. Or did you start paying attention to video games around the time Xbox came out? Also, "bland, uninspired", Bungie were the first developer to feature free look in their games. How uninspired.

EDIT: Someone already responded. My bad.

But in fairness, Oni was made by Bungie West, and that was their only game. Technically a different studio.
actually, the opposite, since the xbox/ps2 I've been paying less and less attention, and i don't care what they did first, its still boring

The first major commercial game to incorporate true 3D free look using the mouse and keyboard control scheme was Marathon by Bungie, released in December 1994 for the Apple Macintosh (with an earlier demo release in July 1994).
This took 5 seconds to find... [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_look]

Boring is subjective, and no-one really cares about your opinion. Using new technology and advancing the medium forward is exciting for the medium, whatever game it's implemented in.

Seriously, get over it and do some research, halo is actually pretty complex when it comes to shooters.
i just want to say that this sentence deeply confuses me...and leave it at that.

OT: maybe this means theyll finally make that sequel to ONI :p. then again, if they dont have the rights to halo anymore, theyve got some serious faith in whatever the hell theyre working on...which either means its a groundbreaking masterpiece or a strictly formulaic cash machine.

which of course means its a cash machine.

Marathon was actually very deep and the villains of the piece were some of the most imaginative and intriguing of the time. But hey, whatever bro.

Bullshit, everyone deserves an opinion regardless of their opinions of Bungie's blandest franchise. You're right, it wasn't super original or genre defining. What Halo was, was the first peek of a solid FPS that a lot of gamers of the day saw. It's popularity stems from a new generation of gamers who didn't have the likes of Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem; hell even better FPS like System Shock!

They didn't even make the bracket for Golden Eye, they had Halo, Metroid and TimeSplitters. Halo was received well by the market because it was solid. It wasn't ground breaking and it didn't take risks, but it played well and it was fun. So can we please and the undying love or the unquenchable hate for the first game?

However everything after Combat Evolved is game.
