The only thing an IQ does is measure your learning and comprehension abilities, not necessarily how smart you are. They want PS3 software experts that also have a high IQ, cutting out a lot of useful people. Besides, basically they're trying to hire a person who is an expert at what they do based on their learning ability to learn what they already are an expert at.

Looks like Bungie...

Isn't very smart.
YEAAAAAA- ya that wasn't very good.

IQ scores were part of my HS transcripts. That score's (arguable) significance gets lower as I age. I'm guessing that this is, among other things, a way of saying they want young'ns or folks with recent encounters with education systems.

Well if they get even 1 high IQ developer the IQ of activision(not counting blizzard) is gonna double :)

and ofc then bobby kotick gets added into it and it goes below zero :(

what I'd like to know is how you can qualify for everything but an adequate IQ score. To fill all the other requirements doesn't that require you to... Oh I don't know... Go to school?

"My god! This console is so overly-complicated we need a genius to even give us a chance at succeeding!" is what Bungie's trying to say.

Ha ha... very funny, guys.

So.... Bungie are stupid? In all seriousness, it does make them sound like the jock end of the developer spectrum.

IQ's are pointless, stop making them worth a shit!
Also, you need to be intelligent eh? Well that scraps the chance of anybody who plays Halo's multiplayer from signing up. I don't thing Bungie hires 5 year olds anyway.

Plus if they want High IQ, why work with Bobby Kotick?

My guess is that they need these people to make up for what is lost with Kotick ^^

So halo was made with high IQ? screw that. Nice to see that bungie are taking lessons in being arseholes, they will need them if they want to fit in with activison.

I do.

Should I stop?
If you are being serious then yes, stop. Have you heard of MENSA? It's the high IQ foundation, it's is recommended universally that if you are a member you do not mention it in job interviews/resumes. People don't like it when you tout how smart you are even if it's implied by the job. Let your qualifications and presence do the talking, don't give them a number.

Because unscrambling words and figuring out the next number in a pattern quickly is very important in game development, right?

So what do they consider high? 150? They need "Genius" level IQs to program for PS3?? Ok so probably not that high.

Anyway, definitely an odd thing to require but I guess it can make sense. IQ doesn't really help in many situations like doing general commons sense or "street smart" but it doesn prove good math and analytical/logical, problem solving skills which are great for programmers.

They want a developer who knows C# to work on PS3 stuff? I thought C# was basically a Microsoft technology. Is the PS3 running on Windows or something?

Maybe they should have hired people with high IQ before signing with Activision. It's too late now!

Although at least the high IQ thing should weed out any people who would take their console to Best Buy for $30 firmware update service.

(Yes I know IQ =/= intelligence, but let me have my jokes dammit)

Looking for people with high IQ eh? Take it they are trying to replace the retarded chimps that farted out the Halo series then.

Don't listen to all the nay-sayers. If you've got a high IQ you should put it prominently on your resume, preferably in a 72 point font. That way, future employers will not be surprised by your subtle and understated genius.

They don't want business heads? Expert programmers? No, they want high IQ. I mean, what? I guess they want those things, and a high IQ. Which makes... zero sense.
