its an in game bug that should have been patched. if it couldnt be patched then bungie should have put out a warning through the game telling people they will be reset if they continue useing the bug. i am one of the people who did so and i CERTAINLY would have stopped if such a warning was issued. i GREATLY believe that this was handled horribly. every last one of my friends who played halo reach were useing this glitch and two of my friends are actually selling Reach now because of this. i am definately not going to be playing for a while because of this. bungie should have just banned the abusers for a few weeks so that they would fall behind in rank to those who wernt useing it, and then patched the glitch or put out the warning for continued use. i am an extreamly angry halo fan bungie, way to make me hate the series with the last game. great big bang ending.

I'm sorry, WHAT GLITCH? This isn't a problem with the code or something in game, this is dumbasses unplugging their internet in order to reset a DAILY challenge many times a day and rake in the credits. You KNEW that this was wrong, that it was an exploit, Bungie doesn't need to wave a big red warning sign to let you know that is was an exploit BECAUSE YOU SHOULD HAVE FUCKING KNOWN. What game has unplugging and plugging an ethernet cord be an acceptable part of the gameplay experience?

You did something wrong, you knew it was wrong, and the company smacked your hands for it. Deal.

I don't get why everyone here is so butthurt that people credit boosted... Credits do literally nothing to change actual gameplay but everyone is still raising their torches and pitchforks to hunt down people who have more credits, even though it does not affect them in any way shape or form. They're not aimbotting or wallhacking, or even unlocking new weapons, they're changing their helmet... I'm more disappointed in you guys than them...

Anyone bawwing about this is basically just outing themselves as a loser who can't play the game well enough to earn credits properly.

You know, the people whining about this are the same type of people that would, like, light kittens on fire and punt puppies, then be surprised when they got in trouble for it.

"But nobody TOLD me it was bad!"
That is the most awesome analogy ever.

I didn't know which BanHammer picture to choose, so here's three:

Gotta say, all three of these are awesome. While I don't play Halo, I find this pretty hilarious and I'm glad that Bungie is doing so much work to make sure to punish cheaters and force them to either change their ways or find other games.

In other news, Call of Duty gets an added count of 15,000 players, making it suck even more...

did not cheat and got banned, explain that
I'd imagine it have something to do with that day you managed to complete the same challenge 17 times in 30 minutes.
*sniff* I love this thread soo much...
Achronos is an Employee, hence the Gold text.
Er... thank you Captain Obvious? I don't remember saying anything to imply otherwise.

Putting on my pedant hat (as HG may have) you kinda did. I'm a moderator there, but not an employee; forum moderators are selected from the fan community and are there on a volunteer basis. Actual employees of Bungie usually get gold text to mark their posts out from us common ruck... and thus make it harder for anyone to spoof folks with fake "official" posts.

Achronos is the "Bungie.net Overlord", responsible for web development and administration of the site. (Not just the forums, but also stuff like the game stats-integration.)

Oh man, the people in that thread are so bass ackward. Saying they shouldnt be punished for Bungies mistakes... okay, but what about the other people who werent cheating? If Bungie didnt do anything about the cheaters that would mean more than 15,000 people would be being punished for Bungies mistakes, if you cheat then you must accept the consequences when the gravy train stops.

Exploiting a persons flaws makes you a dick, no two ways about it. People who do that kind of thing deserve to be punished, people who complain about being punished after doing that kind of thing deserve a double dose.

And how do they find if someone is cheating? He's using a lag switch. What if he is just a lagger cause of a shitty connection?
When he/she lags only when behind in score or just about to score a Challenge, the way to bet is "lag switch."

Good on ya, Bungie.
It's great to see that they still care about making Halo Reach cheater-free, even though the Halo license doesn't belong to them anymore (correct me if I'm wrong.)
