If they've only just found out, how do they know he was angrier after playing it?
Because they were wondering why he was behaving more violently around his sister. It's in the article.
Well that's conclusive.

I'm just amazed at the stupidity of that school, they give them an ego trip shooter to socialize?!
Is the school run by mentally challenged staff aswell?

Out of all the games that you can find, they managed to pick the one with the absolute worst environment for socializing.

While I don't see a problem with it, the school technically shouldn't be associated with it because the kids are underage.

We know that if an unstable, aggressive personality plays violent video games, they'll act more violently for a while. If you don't believe this, I want to know where you got your epic blinders.

Wow this is a rare time that the parent isn't to blame for a angry child and it seen this parent are more responsible as well. Regardless on the whole violent game/ under age kid issue I agree with the parent on this one since he had become more angry from playing it.

What the hell *facepalm*

Seriously out of all the kids in the world to give violent games :/ Special needs kids are probably the most vulnerable. Did the school not know there are non-violent games out there or something?

It's pretty much been proven that certain personalities can become more aggressive for a short period of time after/while certain playing games.

The problem we usually have with those studies is that they usually miss out the "short term" part and act as though violent games make everyone permanently more violent.

It's like when you feel like smashing your controller when you get really frustrated. You'll be more aggressive for like 10 minutes maybe, but after that everything's fine.

I would like to point out some faulty logic here...
What we know..
The child is acting more aggressive
The child plays CoD:MW
...That's about it.
What we imply... Kid + CoD = Violent

But correlation doesn't imply causation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causation
We have no idea what is going on in this kids life. What other factors are involved in his behavior? The teen years are full of changes to body and mind, mood swings and hormones.

Well they're saying it lasts through a portion of the day and until he gets home and sees his sister.

How could this ever possibly sound like a good idea?
To be fair, when I think of the MW palyers on Xbox Live, I think "Special needs."

You don't need a study. Imagine a situation. Pretend you are playing a FPS or something competitive and fast paced like that. Now pretend that you are on a huge killing spree and you get killed by some camping sniper. Pretend you spawn only to get spawn killed. Pretend that now you just can't get a kill anymore.

If you're good at pretending you may have noticed that you are getting more and more angry. The angrier you get, the worse you get, and the worse you get the angrier you get. When you stop playing the anger will still stay with you for a little while, followed by irritability. You'll cool down in a little while youself, but some of these kids are very easily angered and can hold it for a while.

For a more personal example buy super street fighter 4 and try to master the character Makoto. I'm usually a very calm person but my controller is half broken now.

Well supposedly for people with certain emotional/mental problems that short term aggression lasts longer. I think it sounds fairly reasonable.

I would say this is inappropriate because, when it comes to special needs kids, the gap between maturity level and age is even wider and more uncertain than it is with non-special needs kids, which means that is really difficult to judge whether someone with the kind of condition this kid here has is at a level where they can separate the fantasy of the game from the reality.

Whether parents allow their kids to play an M game when they're below the age level for it is their decision to make. For a school that deals with special needs kids to let kids play a game that they're below the age rating for, and have added mental and emotional issues to consider, it just feels really inappropriate. Especially considering that I went to an ordinary school and I think we still had to get permission slips signed by our parents to allow us to watch movies that were rated for people above our age group, if we were even allowed to watch them at all.

I also read they were using it to get him out of his shell. Maybe it worked. Maybe the kid is just a dick underneath it all. Maybe interacting with others through the game has led him to be less shy and his real personality is an aggressive asshole.
