Putting COD players in close physical proximity to each other in the real world sounds like a bad idea. At least over the internet you're limited to verbal abuse...

Seriously, all the consoles will be the xbox 360 and they actually have PAINTBALL there.

There will be 6,000 tickets available, priced at $150. Activision's Eric Hirshberg said that the ticket price was somewhere what you'd pay to attend BlizzCon, and what you'd pay for Comic Con, and that it represented fantastic value for money. "If you attend any AAA concert, that's about what you'd be paying," Hirshberg said.

What? All three times I've seen Iron Maiden they've only been $75 for the pit.

OT: I must admit it's a decent marketing idea. It doesn't hold the same weight to me as Blizzcon as it showcases a lot more than just a single franchise. But hey, the $1,000,000 is pretty cool for just doing something that you love.

Yeah but having them all together means there might be some large scale fistfights there instead of verbal abuse. They might all kill each other. So they've got that going for them, which is nice.

I came into this thread expecting a lot of swollen heads up petty backsides, I wasn't wrong. That's the only problem with the Escapist, the miasma of unwarranted smugness and false superiority. I hate to sound like a broken record I have to ask, how empty is your life to draw such self importance and status from games of all things?

Might be, 'cause I'm from germany, but 150 Bucks for a Triple-A concert? That sounds like pretty much for me...
I'm more into the metal stuff but I think it's safe to consider AC/DC, Metallica or Iron Maiden as "AAA"-concerts and they would all be below 100 Bucks.

Mr. Hirshberg, you are being ripped off.

Is it just me, or does this seem like a bad idea?
I mean, there are a lot of people who will pay $60 fore the newest game, but honestly, how many of them are willing to pay money for tickets, and then travel to LA for a CoD convention?

Is it bad thing to just think "natural selection" when I read both your posts?

I'm tempted to go just to watch the morons trying to run and gun in a paintball match, to hear their sobs when respawning actually hurts, and to laugh at all the dorks in camo.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. After a hard day of moving into a new house and agonizing over potentially lost objects during the move, you have made my day.

WAIT 150 dollars is a tremendous value? I just spent 130 dollars on TWO tickets to a AAA concert. How is 150 not a waste for something like this?

Okay, so, I heard about this on Facebook first, and I got really excited about this "COD-CON" everyone was going on about first, but then I figured out it was about video games and not angling and I got really disappointed anyway i hope you kids have fun with your cod-con. :(

Watch them limit the ages to only 18 years or older admitted.

There will probably only be 12 people there.

Sarcasm aside, it'll probably do sterling. Probably only have two or three years of it before people stop caring, though.

So what's a paintball grenade? A paint-water-balloon?

That depends... are you saying it like it's bad thing?

Well I vote this as the location for some of the most boring cosplay conceived by man.

Also I thought a lot of hardcore Call of Duty fans like the online scene due to the anonymity, I guess calling people fags and racial slurs is harder when that person is within grappling distance. Also, COD is probably the worst game to have tournaments for, as the buggy detection and luck-based twitch combat will make the winner a completely random pick from the hat.

Nah, that'd be like filling the sprinkler supply with paint and setting it off. Community style.
