not entirely true. they were removed from mw2, but returned in black ops. i can't remember 100% for world at war, but i thiiiiink there were endles waves too. not that it would need them, god damn blowtorch & corkscew chapter on veteran...

qft!
shift for prone, control for crouch in my case. works great, never had trouble with it (though i mostly play cod4 multiplayer). you have to know what you want, and if it's too much to ask that you quickly chose between two actions in a game like cod, then ego shooters are maybe not for you^^

I am sorry but no. Just because you want them to be the one button does not mean they should be for everyone else. In a scrim type scenario you need to be able to choose between prone and crouch as well as need things like Lean. The second it takes to double table crouch to get to prone will kill in this scenario. Sometimes you need to go straight to prone. In fact I want the OPTION of having diffuse bomb as a separate button to picking up guns. Having them the same button is the worst idea ever.
I want the option; I don't want it to be mandatory. Maybe that wasn't clear.
Besides, going prone on console involves a half second button press from standing or crouching, not double tap. It's simple to go straight to prone from any situation. If anythingit adds quite a bit of flexibility.
so what if you have to go from stand to prone instantly,or die? very common in cod4 mp hardcore.
you are fucked, that's what.
I thought it was pretty clear my comments were directed at single player, unless they implemented AI into CoD4 MP when I wasn't looking.
And to answer your question, you press Jump.

well jumping out of cover will not exactly help you either if you want to dive behind a wrecked car, au contrair, it will probably ensure your imminent riddeling with bullets of various calibers.
yes i mainly play multiplayer, but the point remains valid in singleplayer. there are moments where you simply have to go from standing to lying down instantly or you are hosed. having a button for that isn't exactly rocket science.

that said, i saw a script not to long ago for exactly what you are describing: pushing the button to crouch, holding it for x miliseconds to go prone. it was nothing complicated, like 4 lines of cod script language. i'll see if i can find it.

If you've not played on consoles it probably does sound unnecessary, but I was born and bred on them so to me its second nature. Not having the option for it on PC seems amiss is all I'm saying, and as I'm not one of the PC master race it was a bit fiddly at times, mostly because I had the console control scheme in my head. I managed to complete Black Ops on Veteran on my PC, so maybe I'm alright. =P

I think cod needs to decide if it's a realistic tactical shooter, or an arcadey old school game.
Guns that are super accurate AND powerful? That's just asking for trouble.

hm i think i see your point. having the option to would be nice, for people that want this kind of thing. allthough i still believe it's unnecessary slowing me down if i have to hold something for half a second which could easily achieved by pushing a button.
if you did black ops on veteran then you're obviously doing allright^^
though black ops is victim to this plague that is going arround in games lately, becoming easyer and easyer. if you want a real challenge, try world at war on veteran. blowtorch & corkscrew, relentless and heart of the reich almost made me cry.

Play through the Brazil parts again and tell me those motherfuckers aren't infinite! goddamn enraging that area was >.>

OT: Mostly it's the MP that enrages me, and pre-MW2 the goddamn amount of nades that were aimed square at my testicles was frustrating.

Lol look at my gamertag if you want proof I've done them, I think its linked up, if not its RepCommando1138. Like I said at the top, CoD1-CoD7 I've completed on Veteran O_O
You're right though; compared to MW1 and WaW, BO and MW2 were a walk in the park lol.

I hate infinate spawning enemies. That ruined the single player of the CoD games for me. Actually, everything about the CoD single player ruined it for me. The random difficulty spikes, the wierd trigger lines, every defense mission on them, all of it. Multiplayer was better, and I never had any problem with "OP guns" or the "nube tubes" or even camping. Maybe it's cuz I camp with 74u grenade launcher, but really, if its that easy, and it's been in every game since CoD 4, maybe theres a reason it's still there. Woops, way off topic there. OT: I hated all of single player, loved multiplayer.

i think you misunderstood me, i didn't mean to imply that i wouldn't believe you. sorry if it sounded like that, i seriously didn't mean to^^
though i don't exactly know how hard it is on xbox. i know difficulty got massively scaled down since the lack of accuracy with controllers would pretty much make it impossible to beat them with the pc difficulty. but i don't know by how much they were scaled, so i have no clue how hard it actually is on xbox.

I'm afraid you're just nitpicking, obviously you've played Cod so much you need to find new things to look at and contemplate.

My advice? try looking for a different series to follow.

Actually World at War was extremly easy on PC on veteren. it feels like Regular on xbox.

They're definitely not infinite in MW2, in any area. IW made a big deal over this fact when it came out - there's just an absolute buttload of them in the Favela.

Play through that level very slowly and carefully and eventually you'll get through them all, leaving you with a nice pretty empty level to wander around.

I'd rather the multiplayer just not suck. I hate it when I shoot first and hit a guy three or four times but he has a more beefy gun because he has played more so I die DESPITE his slow reaction and poor aim. I hate when one guy goes on a spree, and a chopper flies overhead and pretty much wins the game by itself. I played about 3 or 4 game of black ops. The second game I hadn't leveled up enough yet to use a rocket launcher. That sucked, cuz a chopper overhead was wiping out me and my teammates and I had no way of killing it. My teammates were dumb. I was pretty much done with black ops at that point.

Lol, I'm actually a Halo fanboy; I bought the Ledgendary Halo3and Reach editions xD
I do love CoD, but it's a love-EXTREMEHATRED relationship.
this list was borne out of years of frustration and one long night of Blops on a laptop with a big cup of coffee =P

sorry but i call bullshit. enemy reaction speed is cut roughly down to two thirds of the time it is on consoles, enemy hp are slightly elevated. enemies prioritizing player character over npc's is a tad elevated for pc, and enemy accuracy is nearly doubled. in cod4 pc enemies used to get a slight damage boost over their console counterparts, but i'm not sure about that in WaW.
the only way this could be true is due to the massiv handycap that comes with clumsy and inacurate thumbsticks that were never meant for first person controls, instead of a mouse.

Besides you can set the keyboard so that you press a key to crouch, hold it to go prone. Its in customise controls.

I love the COD campaigns, it's the multi-player that drives me to punch walls. Won't even begin to try and list all the BS in it...
Yeah, but that BS is much harder to fix as the internet anonymity allows people to play in the most douchy way possible.

OT: You're asking for Brothers in Arms style AI in CoD. I like GRAW for tactical shooters though. Most of my encounters last all of a few seconds due to well planned ambushes and silenced weapons.

I think a line from Full Spectrum Warrior Ten Hammers suits the current COD games as far as AI:
Contact! Multiple Insurgents headed your way. They're coming out of the fucking walls! Muj coming from all directions.

I do miss shooters where there are "definable" lines of where you are and where the enemy is coming from, it's a pain in the ass trying to push up and cover the alleys on your six while your team mates pick their nose and talk about how ugly the women are and how bad the food tastes.
