I personally don't mind spawn camping in some games I hate it sometimes but most of the time I figure its not a big deal, I mean can't 5 guys take out one camper if they work together?
and because I have to

I agree with this. Camping is extremely annoying and almost ruins a game (TDM mostly). How is it possibly fun to sit in a corner the entire game? What gets me angry is the people who keep running back to the camper/s to try to kill them and continuously die... I much prefer running and gunning, I have a K/D of 1.87 doing that and it works for me. The only time I camp is when the game mode requires it or the bloody phone rings...

I don't hate camping as much as I hate people with no skill. If you can camp in an area with multiple doors and kill me ok thats fine. If you camp at a corner with no other entry points with a shotgun pointed at whoever is unlucky enough to walk past? Thats not using any skill thats just flat out cheating, and annoying. If it is possible to kill you without a lucky shot or just you decided to not pay attenion then yes you are fine at camping. Otherwise you suck.

Also this is my first post here ever so Hi everyone

i hate camping for one sole reason...if everyone did it no one would get killed ever and thus multiplayer would be dead...also it just seems a bit lazy if you ask me "ok im just going to sit in this house and wack off until a guy comes walking in then ill kill him over and over and over until he feeds me a granade" im fine with sniping simply because thats how you use a sniper rifle when you have a SMG or shotgun ect you at least walk around...

I've heard that Mythbusters proved that "shooting fish in a barrel" is actually harder than most people think.

OT: I don't camp. It's just...boring. I'd rather go hunting for something than wait for it to come to me. It's why I hate fishing.

This is the type of crap people pull in Plunder Matches on Uncharted 2 multiplayer. This mode is basically a capture the flag mode. I've played quite a few matches where the other team goes to my base and just waits for my team to show up and kill us so we can't manage to get the treasure(flag) in our base. This team also never attempts to get the treasure and bring it to theirs. They basically just kill farm, which is not all that beneficial in this game mode because you get so much more money for capturing the treasure and so little money for kills. This is the type of camping people hate.

So they're defending a flag? If you owned a jewelry store in Detroit, would you hire a security guard?

I think it's just team strategy. Yeah, they could individually get more money by being a runner, but if they all were like that, they would all lose and probably make a lot less money in the long run.
Not really defending anything, infiltrating OUR base and just staying there, waiting till we spawn or run back. It'd be different if they stayed in THEIR base and defended.

I find it anoyying, espically if your the type to use a shotgun and hide in the corner. I only play search so you only have one life, its a bit more frustrationg to die by camper in that game type in my opinion, but i dont play much cod these days.

Clever camping like what you've said OP can be fine, but when you have a guy just sitting in the corner of a room for the entire match waiting for someone to come by, but even after killing someone, never moves. It's annoying because that guy isn't in the fray he's just in a corner on the map.

How do they manage that???

The question I have is why people hate campers, but are okay with snipers, when to me they honestly look to be about the same thing.
I guess so but the 'traditional' sniper has to stay in one spot for a long time and wait for someone to go into his/her sight. It's like Sniper 101. And that's when Quick-Scoping and No-Scoping came along...

^Bet most of the haters don't think that.

Anyway, people hate it because they feel it's a dirty and cheap tactic to get kills easily. After all, sitting in one spot and waiting for someone to come along can easily be seen as this whereas I think it's a legitimate tactic.
That's why you should chuck a grenade or be careful around every corner like real soldiers. Not that I think this should be compared.

My Shooter game has Campers but it's not so serious you have to crawl everywhere. But some maps...
Most of the time when I sprint moving from spot to spot with places that could be filled with campers I get killed.

I combine movement, camping and "anticamping". Usually only moving along the borders of the map in a fast pace.

A few tips if any care.
A proven tac is to keep you´re game irregular but with a overall plan, like described above.

Use the stats to find out where you die most and stay away from those areas. Always use you´re knife when possible, even a silenced gun makes noise. Tjek the coners for Claymores and gun pipes before entering a room. Especially the gunpipe part is very usefull when you learn to spot them.

people hate camping because shooters appeal to the adrenaline junkies who love being in fire fights and sitting on the edge of their seat with half their life gone and only 3 bullets left in the chamber. campers take away from the second-to-second fighting by going at it at a slow, tactical pace and tend to care more about their kill to death ratio rather than stacking up a max amount of kills and so they tend top win most encounters, taking away from the adrenaline junkies reason for playing. snipers are the worst for them because there is nothing worse then running into a fight where everybody is about to die from a wave of your machine gun than a single bullet from a sniper half way across the map

thats my thought on the matter anyways

So true. Camping is a legitimate strategy. Plus it is a game's fault for making set re-spawn points. And if you can't beat a camper, then you don't know the game well enough yet to avoid them.

well its mostly the players whos thought process of multiplayer believes that if your not blowing something up at least every 5 seconds, you must be doing something wrong. look at quickscoping; not exactly the tactic i think of when i hear 'sniper rifle', but its the fast and frantic tactic that the sniper can be used for; the more realistic (and what should be most viable) tactic of training your sights on a target until youve 'locked on' so to speak doesnt mesh with the pace most people play at. thats why they hate camping; its not a tactic they believe has a place in the game.

The game never calls for camping. Theres a differance between camping and defencive play.
Sitting with your ass against a wall, watching one doorway? Thats camping.
Accually moving, watching multipul entrances, and trying to support your team and protect a point? Defencive play.

All campers care about is theyer K/D. Not if they win or lose.

:/ while i care about my K/D, im never going to be the reason my team loses. Im always protecting a point, or trying to slow enemys down.

I'm not one to scream at a well placed camper...it's about strategic placement of one's self, but it's the ones that sit in a corner or a dead end hallway,Example being the top level of sword base in Halo Reach, and even if they get killed in the process of the camp they immediately return to the same spot where they get killed...like many have said here I too have camped but once I get killed I rarely return to that spot in the match.

Because people are tired of people bending their gameplay styles to camping just to get useless K/D ratios, instead of having fun and running out into the mix and blowing crap up. Lastly, if everyone camped, no one would get a kill. How much would that suck?

Instead, the only GOOD camping is usually the Battlefield BC2 camping, as it allows you to easily remove the camper by tanks / aircraft / mortars or whatnot. Not the CoD style where you just have to through grenades and pray it lands near the camper, since the walls are suddenly bullet proof for the most part, with only one entrance.

this is camping at its worst it manipulates enemies and draws them into a trap ALTHOUGH camping is such a natural technique look at a mantis, a mantis will wait until its prey comes to it, likewise a spider sets up his web and awaits his prey. it works because its worked for millions of years. evolution is giving us campers a helping hand
I stopped using the Spy Plane and now use Rc Cars for exactly this reason. My favorite way to use them is revenge kills on ghost campers.

Defensive play is my version of camping. It's the closest I come to the actual thing. I care about my K/D, I don't really know why but I just do. I consider any game below 1.5 to be pretty bad but I'll never camp to boost it. I don't really care about winning or loosing either, I just happen to win alot because my team is good and everyone else seems to be really bad (had an 83 game winning streak on MW2, all legit without dashboarding)

Even though I really favor sniper rifles in every FPS I play, I don't camp. I find playing moderately aggressive with sniper rifles fun. I do stay in one position for approximately 10 to 20 seconds. Did you see how Hutch played MW2? My playstyle is similar. That's not really camping, is it?
Also, killing stupid campers is satisfying, chasing smart ones is fun. I have no real problem with it.

I played WoW for a bit, corpse camping pissed the hell out of me (it's one of the reasons I stopped), but sniping is a big part of Call of Duty, might as well make use of it.
