perhaps it uses gravity flux instead of magnetics to keep the plasma in check? would explain why the heat output doesn't cause the air around it to ignite

this started out as me going don't you think it's lame that you're coming into a forum thread titled "can a lightsaber cut through adamantium" and calling it a nerdy discussion when you could have easily just not come into it, but i been watching zero punctuation so i decided to zazz it up a little.
I said this was funny in a friendly way, I was just being silly.
If I was a troll though, you would have made my day :p
i admit.. there was a little troll bait in that post...

Tough choice. It might be able to because it's a god damn light saber. But Wolverines adamantium skeleton managed to survive a multitude of NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS in wolverine #43. His skeleton was unscratched by the way. So I'm going with it being saber proof.

This question is utterly unanswerable. As soon as your brain works out the answer it has been put under so much stress that it implodes.

Alright get things clear here, the only thing that could destroy adamantium aka Wolverines bones are the heated version like e.g. 20,0000000000 degrees hot or extremely hot lava from the core that could melt wolverines interior and from previous post saying how qui gon needs to take a while? well maybe wolverines bones? a century n by then wolverine could slice the jedi's up and regenerate regular bones continusly

A necro'd thread? It may be a necro'd thread but it's still more interesting than the other front page threads. Screw it.

I'd say no. We're accustomed to thinking of light sabers as being able to cut through things, sure, but in the movies the we see limitations to their cutting ability--the foremost being Luke only wounding Vader with a shoulder strike rather than cutting Vader in half. I think that the light sabers were imagined to be what they are--laser swords--rather than a MacGuffin tool. There are things lasers can't--like mirrors. :)

From that perspective because the limits of a light saber pretty much render them to 'laser cutters' the light sabers shouldn't be able to cut through adamantium because the mythical metal is defined as indestructible, i.e. lasers don't work on it.

My 2/cents. :)
