Can a lightsaber cut through adamantium??

I think the lightsaber could cut through it, but I agree it would take a really long time. I mean, when you think about it, adamantium can be heated to produce a liquid and since lightsabers probably generate heat that would help cut through the adamantium.

I thought Adamantium could only be turned into liquid state once. Depends if we're talking about Wolverine or otherwise.

Yeah, it is created in it's liquid form. Once that initial mixture hardens though, nothing effects it. You could hook up a lightsaber and a bar of adamantium to a machine and have them pressed against each other for 1000 years and it still won't have done anything to the adamantium.

As for the hypothetical question, I have no idea. Don't know the specific properties of either subject, so any statement I give would ultimately go without any data.

Correction....they made a real one...but the blade part dosent slide out like that its housed so its always that long...but yeahhh...danageous and can make you go blind...by looking at it

Technically no. Wolverine has even better plot armor than Luke Skywalker. The old comics maintained that a shot through his eye socket into his brain would still kill him, but that no longer applies. It has happened and he got better. He has actually been reduced to just his skeleton and still healed.

Wolverine's healing factor increases in parallel to his popularity.

...and the resulting flop defeats both lightsabers and adamantium.

Also, neither lightsaber nor adamantium can break through diamond, the strongest metal known to man.

Especially if it is a diamond-shaped 200mph, going at the speed of wall into an iron made out of car.

This question has bugged me ever since I heard it on the RoosterTeeth Drunk Tank Podcast (for those of you who don't know what that is, go download it for free from iTunes). In truth, I believe it absolutely could do it, it would just be a long time to do it, like the adamantium would be fighting with the lightsaber.

In Knights of the old republic you can use focus crystals or something to change the colour of your lightsaber. does that imply that a lightsabre is focused light? because if so I think that though the lighsaber would not disrupt the adamantium it would superheat it, not to the point of melting- as that is impossible. the superheated adamantium would cause wolverines entire body to almost vaporise (over time, which I guess defies the term vaporise).
in short it would kill wolverine but his adamantium bones (minus the bones or any human body tissue) would be left behind. he wouldnt regenerate because he would obviously have nothing to regenerate from

More importantly, would the fact that adamantium can survive contact with a lightsabre (which is apparently actually a blade of plasma held in place by a force containment field: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber) prevent it from becoming incredibly hot? How well does adamantium conduct heat? I'm just wondering because it might help Wolverine much that his claws can clash with a lightsabre when it causes his skeleton to heat up a few hundred degress? He can of cause heal, but it wouldn't be pleasant for him.

Even more importantly, how does Death's (from Discworld) scythe/sword fit into this? Can that cut through adamantium or a lightsabre?

Assuming the Lightsaber is 'Plasma', it would cut through Adamantium but it would just take a high concentration and length of time to do it, depending on the size/width of the Adamantium.

If you mean Wolverine's claws, there's no need. Magneto sucked the metal right outta Wolverine in that one series, guy hasn't been the same since then, with bone claws and all...

That was many many years ago, he has since had the adamantium put back in.
