I hate Anime in general, the only one I've been able to enjoy was Ninja scroll.UnknownGunslinger said:I know I'm going to regret this but...
Can anyone recommend me an Anime?
First I'm not the greatest fan of animes, mostly because of the art styles, but also because of the sometimes bat-shit weirdness.
Yet I have seen some very good ones, that managed to be amazing enough to make me wonder what else I might be missing?
Then I ask around some friends, specifiably telling what I've liked before only to wound up watching some effeminate boy whining about his high-school crush with his random pikachu side-kick and, oh yeah giant Mechas everywhere
Anyway this is what I?ve seen that I liked:
Best series I've seen so far would be Death Note up until the middle, then it went down hill fast!
Also Hellsing was pretty decent.
From movies I loved the two Ghost & the Shell films, Akira and the two Vampire Hunter D.
Perfect Blue was amazing, also Whisper of the Heart and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
What genre? Anime is just a medium.Entropyutd said:I hate Anime in general, the only one I've been able to enjoy was Ninja scroll.
The genre as a whole is dying a death nowdays, which means a lot of poor quality (increasingly niche market wierd crap) stuff out there.
I'd have to say looking back at some older stuff would probably be your best bet.
Agreeing with this...anime is not a genre, it has genres within it.Smertnik said:What genre? Anime is just a medium.Entropyutd said:I hate Anime in general, the only one I've been able to enjoy was Ninja scroll.

that's not always a good idea.somonels said:Just pick something at random, see the first few minutes and decide for yourself.
Are you sure we're talking about the same movie? The best animation of 1999?Pandalink said:Also, to the person who said Jin-Roh earlier - did you genuinely like that movie? It was one of the worst things I've ever had the misfortune of spending time watching. Everyone to their own, I guess.
Do they have a dub for it? I dont mind reading subtitles but it always distracts me from whats on screens (and dubs can get bad which is irritating >.<)Thaius said:I would highly recommend Clannad. Because it's amazing. This isn't some crazy mecha or fantasy anime, it's a simple romance/drama/comedy. It may be weird trying to get used to some anime-style animations, gestures, and their general melodramatic style, but this is an absolutely beautiful anime that must be seen. I mean just check out the opening to the first episode.
And it will make you cry. Maybe not the first show, Clannad, but its sequel series/season, After Story, will absolutely without a doubt bring the tears. If you do not cry, you have no soul. This show broke me; I never cried in anything until this show insisted on tearing my heart and soul to pieces before slowly sewing it back together. It's amazing.
All right then, since you're not a fan of weird, I'll give you the best I can do, with a short synopsis.UnknownGunslinger said:I know I'm going to regret this but...
