Anything's better then Oblivion. But still, is they screw Fallout up, Bethesda's getting ALOT of angry letters. You don't want to mess with the letters.
If Bethesda do screw up Fallout 3 then the least of their concerns will be letter bombs.

I'll make sure of that.

Those letters/other thing(?) haven't worked on sonic/sega yet.

Richard Garriot had a hilarious comment about fan mail at a speech he gave one time. He said there are basically two kinds. 1) You suck and I hate your game. 2) Great game...but you really should have fixed this, this, and this.

Unfortunately, I've yet to read about Bethesda focusing on solving problem other than shooting people in the face, much like the only way to solve quests in the Elder Scrolls.

My charisma boy diplomat is sad.

Yes since Fallout 3 will be a patched, fixed and reskinned Oblivion with guns.

Now the real question is if Fallout 3 will be as good as other Fallout games?

I've never played a Fallout game before. Is it that good?
I hadn't played Fallout 1 or 2 in their hay days. I also haven't finished either (busy gaming season when I downloaded them). However Fallout 2 was very enjoyable, had good story elements, and used interesting RPG functions (mostly taken from pen&paper games).

The only drawback for me was that many feats or abilities (can't remember the term used) were pretty useless. Though that can easily be said of many other great games, so I don't hold it against the developers.

I think Oblivion was good practice for Fallout . Hopefully most if not all of the problems associated with oblivion will be fixed in Fallout. Also post apocalyptic is cooler than fantasy if you ask me

considering that every human in Oblivion looks like they have Down Syndrome, there's tons of room for improvement. i have high hopes for Fallout.

I think it will be better than Oblivion. I enjoyed Oblivion, but several things like the level scaling enemies and the generic level design held it back. Bethesda has probably received enough complaints about those that they will fix it for Fallout 3.

When a game has a lack of immersion so big that even Wow could beat it. It has a serious problem.
the lack of immersion in Oblivion is bad, but definitely no worse than WoW. if you don't believe me, then how many times have you kicked the shit out of Ragnaros and repeatedly saved the kingdom?

the biggest room for improvement is the combat. the combat in Oblivion is serviceable. However, if those sword mechanics were present in a non-RPG game, people would be up in arms with how limited and repetitive it is.

the only thing making the combat bearable is the fantastical notion that your attack is slowly becoming more and more powerful, even though most of your enemies are difficulty scaled anyways, ruining any feeling of character growth.

the only sign that i was getting stronger was one day when i woke up and realized i could one hit kill rats. woooO!

I dunno 'bout Fallout... I mean, I hate Oblivion with a passion, and if Fallout is basically Oblivion with a reskin and guns, then I won't buy it. If they make it something like what I've heard about the originals, then yeh, I'll give it a shot.

I'll admit that while I have a big ol' raging hard-on for the Fallout series, Bethseda looks like they're doing a really good job. I can tell you right now; I will love this game. I can look at screen shots of a game in early production, read a few tidbits, and instantly decide whether or not I will enjoy the finished product. I've never been wrong, although I may just be a stubborn fool.

I just wish someone would make a GURPS Fallout supplement.
