I personally can't navigate for shit.

A couple of years ago while we were on holiday in France, I decided for some unknown reason to cycle into the nearest town. We were up on a hill, and you basically just go down the road, turn right and carry straight on down the road; except for I cleverly turned left and ended up on an 11 mile round trip instead of about 6 :S And it was down either a dual carriageway or a 40/50mph speed limit road, which is pretty scary too.

Then just a couple of weeks ago I did the same thing; I decided to walk into Oxford from where I live, just for the hell of it, and the only way to do that really is to follow the river. I again cleverley took the wrong direction (though convinced it was the right one) and ended up in entirely the wrong town, not realising until I got there.

I have the near superhuman-like ability to remember locations and find direction. I could be the best damn bus driver ever.

Since a member of my family was a bus driver I have a excellent inner map of my hometown and a good sense of direction memorization

While I have no idea what's the name of a street 30 minutes away from me, I do know where I am in the town. Not just my town - my cousin's town too. And that's strange, because I have never been there for more than 3 weeks in a row...

But hey, I think it's in the family. My cousin (other one) is a taxi driver, same as my dad, who used to be a over-the-country courier (but for bigger things, like windmills and so on).

both of my grandfathers were in the navy so they taught me how to navigate every time i saw them
Not that kind of navigation. It's about a "6th sense" of direction.

I have a peculiarly incredible sense of direction. Especially while underground. (I live in a batcave, you see.)

I have a brilliant sense of direction. I can map read very well and can remember routes almost photographically. Couldn't tell you what was on those routes at all, but I could tell you where to turn.

No I get lost just walking down a street in my nearest town, coupled with the fact that I daydream away often while walking means I don't get around well. I just have to stick with friends whenever I go out usually and hope they know where their going.

Of my home town, I know it and the surrounding cities like the back of my hand. I moved to NC a little over a year ago and can't find a damn thing. I'd have better luck if I let a deaf, dumb, blind kid drive me around

Well, I always have doubts on which way I go, say if there was a right and left fork in the road, i'd go right andhave this feeling that I went the wrong way, regardless if I am or not.

All in all my sense of direction is pretty shit.

I might have to walk/drive a very long route once or twice to get it, but I'm usually pretty good. Orientation-wise I am usually trusted by peers to lead them in the right direction.

I prefer zen navigation myself, find someone or something that looks as if it knows where it's going and follow that.

I am horrible at that. Thank God for GPS. I would be lost all the time without it.
I never trust any GPS completely. I always have preferred paper maps and plotting my course that way.

I have a pretty good map of my area in my head, and I can usually tell directions(north, South, etc.).
