Depends on your definition of "zombie." The thing is, in the Voodoo world, there are zombies.
Personally, I think they're people drugged out of their senses who undergo a zombie-like state out of some kind of quasi-religious fervor - not unlike certain Christian derivatives which go along with the idea of convulsing or speaking in tongues as a sign of divine influence.
As far as real life zombies go, it might go so far as having somebody who was mistaken for dead discovered by a Voodoo witchdoctor who "brings them back" and keeps them drugged up as their zombie slave in order to cow some followers.
