I don't mean to sound rude, but the jackalope is NOTa cryptid.
It's a long running joke/creature of folklore like the boogyman.
Cryptzoology studies creatures that have evidence for their exitence, but not scitenfically recognized due lack of direct credible first hand evidence.
Nobody ever found the boogyman, the jackalope, or a snipe.
The coelacanth, Opaki, gaint squid, and Hoan Kiem turtle were examples of ACTUAL now regonizied animals that used to be cryptids
I actually am insulted by this, cryptozoology has gotten more and more bad PR due to stuff like the Water Horse and The Secret saturdays.
It would be nice if you either removed the jackalope, or added info on the actual scientific impact the field has made.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, that ain't gonna happen. But here's my counter-offer:

I'm rather confused with your response.
The laugh comes off as dismissive, but the pdf goes over a very good and wide view of what cyrptozoology is.
I suppose that technically one could include baseless folklore like the jackalope as a cryptid, as the pdf mentions, but then you'd be crossing the line to pseudoscience, something which cryptozoology is not in most cases.
I suppose it could be said that what is and what is not a cryptid is subjective.
Can you clarify on what the intent of the post was?
I admit that in retrospect, me asking for you to change the article is close minded, and rather selfish; though I still think that the point I was making applies, in that the wording makes it out like it has zero practical or scientific merit.
Anyways, no matter what the intent of the reply, I am glad that you responded.
EDIT: Actually, pretty sure I own the book that foward is from.... Yep, I do. It's pretty unbiased as far as the stuff goes, both pointing out the good of the field and it's flaws.
I would at least recommend reading the pdf if one is interested in learning about it.
