Hadn't everyone called bullshit on this game when we first heard about it? Why has it taken so long for the Splosion man people to figure it out?
I'm guessing the delay isn't in Twisted Pixels, but in the Escapist
The first mention of it on his Twitter, where all the quotes are coming from, is yesterday. The press release for MaXplosion only came out on the 6th, with trailers following afterwards. Mobile games don't usually get much press before their release, so I don't see how anyone would have heard of it before now.

If you want to blame someone for the "delay", I'd likely pin it on Twisted Pixels' lawyers researching the issue to see if they actually have a case.

Myself, well, a week to react isn't exactly blistering but I wouldn't call it slow either, at least in the realm of corporate copyright litigation.

me personally, this is low for capcom
Not quite the parallel you'd like it to be, what with this being a corporation stealing from the little guy (rather than the other way around) and selling the stolen idea (rather than distributing a copy of a product for free).

So no, I don't think anyone who's pro-piracy is going to side with a thieving major corporation. Kinda goes against the whole vibe of the thing, one would think. Y' know, sticking it to the man? Doesn't work the other way, ie. the man sticking it back... huh, there's some horrible mental image in there that I'm not going to get into...

Shamefully, I had to stop and take a minute to figure out what that was referring to. It really does point out what an odd title it was to begin with.

Ya its a rip-off, but granted its a really bad rip-off. Splosion Man is fun and had flow and style. maXplosion looks like a poorly constructed and frankly boring point gathering platformer.

Jeez Capcom, Lost Planet 2, and now you can't do either lame sequels OR blatant rip-offs right? Disappoint...

Hmm, I could have sworn I saw a trailer for it before the holidays. Ah well, must be the time warp of the season lingering on. Last week is still something of a blur filled with swearing and flashing lights for me.

So, you decline publishing a game, then turn around and make almost the exact game, only much worse, on a phone? Oh, wow.
Capcom declined publishing on splosionman...? If what you say is true, your picture says more than I possibly can.

I wonder if this is one of those "we need to revitalise the japanese games industry and sell more games to the west"-procedures. :p

You know, I think the worst part of this is that they didn't even change the number of times you can jump. Three jumps until you land on the ground. Just... ugh. screw off Capcom.

you can be pro piracy and still think that this kind of idea stealing is wrong. not that I'm pro piracy but i see why some people would see no reason to pay to see a movie or play a game (again, not that i agree) but still see the film/game itself as an idea that belongs to a person and shouldn't be stolen. there's a difference between just seeing/playing it without paying and just copying the idea.
A completed film involves even more time and effort than coming up with the idea that fueled it. Infringment and piracy are both forms of enjoying the fruits of anothers labor without due compensation.

Really?! Wow. I can't believe anyone would want to clone that game in the first place. 'Splosion Man was terribly boring, a true discredit to the platforming genre. But no, Capcom. You did clone this in a display of both poor judgment (stealing a game) and poor taste (stealing a BAD game). For shame Capcom, for shame.

"Twisted Pixel CEO and co-founder Michael Wilford makes Capcom look even worse. "Best part is, we originally pitched 'Splosion Man to Capcom and they said no," he tweeted. Ouch."

Ouch indeed! Capcom shows the wrong way of doing things. I wonder if Twisted Pixel will sue...

They've said they won't. They don't have the money to do so. Probably what Capcom was counting on. They released a very graceful and funny statement. Good on them.

"Capcom am smart off Bizarro World. Us copy 'Creation Man. Us not make original games."

Someone should unleash that awesome super-attack from Comic Jumper onto Capcom. Seriously, I see a bearded-headbutt in the form of a lawyer gunning for them.

Yeaaaa i really noticed that when i first heard about Capcom's version.

I wonder how far this will go.
Then again......SNK's King of Fighters series is still going...
The difference with fighting games is that its very basic at its core level "Pick two people. Make em fight each other."

And there's a myriad of characters. As long as you cant mistake one game for the other than I think its okay. Maxplosion and Explosion man? Same character color, same gameplay mechanic hell almost same level design. It walks a very FINE line.

This is one of those times when they have a strong case. I am dissapoint Capcom... Did a big company like them really need to rip off this? Did they not think people would notice?
