Read the bold bits and stop expecting perfection. You've obviously placed your expectations of it way too high and come away from it disappointed.
The game has a score of 86 on metacritic, it isnt exppectations, the game shouldnt be as flawed, what pisses me the most is why most people praise the franchise since the only good thing he had to offer was offered a long time ago with the first few games. Its like most people forgive Capcom just because its a Resident Evil game. It is also obvious that Capcom doesnt care about the quality of the franchise as long as it sells, there are 20 RE games.

If it had a score of 86, doesn't that kinda assume the games doing something right?

Its not that we're forgiving capcom, its that people actually like the game.

Prenote: I apologise in advance for the swearing; but let it be indicative of my frustration.

... I am confused... is this one of those "hate it because it's popular" things and I didn't get the memo?

And all the contradictions in here is just crazy...

"It'll be just like left 4 dead then"
How the fuck do you compare a (bland) first person shooter built around twitch reflexes with piss poor coded enemy AI with zombie skins to a Resident Evil shooter? Because they both have zombies and guns in them, seriously that's the best connection? If you think Resident Evil being more shooting-orientated means you're going to have waves and waves of Raccoon City's recently deceased charging at you full speed while you play as a Stars member circle-jump-strafing a charging Nemesis then you've got the complete wrong fucking idea.

Ok, it's more shooter based, ya know what that means? It means that the game wants you to shoot zombies instead of run away from them, and odds are if you're playing online as a small squad you'll want to do some good old-fashioned head perforating. We had an online multiplayer Resident Evil before, it was called Resident Evil Outbreak. Ya know what the biggest complaint with it was? Too much running around and putting Key A into Maguffin B and not enough putting Bullet A into Zombie B. This is them fixing it and saying (WITHIN CONTEXT) "this simply won't be Resident Evil Outbreak 3"

And can we please get beyond the whole not shooting while moving thing? It's never been a 'real' issue, not for anyone not using their bum to syliloquise at least. Oh whoop, I have to use a semblence of tact with my shooting and can't engage the tried and tested method of the backwards strafe like every single other shooting game in history. People complain Resi is turning generic and the one thing that gives the game a hint of challange from a tact perspective they want to bin...

Plus it'll be interesting to play as the umbrella clean up crew soldiers during the outbreak.
Didn't we already have that with Hunk in Resident Evil 2?

OT: Seriously... they shouldn't bother with a game like this. As it's already been said, there are many 3rd person shooters around. I don't even LIKE games like that. RE5 pretty much buggered the series for me anyway. By cutting out the original point of the series (survival horror), they're just alienating the older fans of the series in order to bring in a bunch of kids who like guns and will play the game for about a week before switching to some other game.
Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against shooter games OR anyone who plays them, but I've always seen a game as something you should happily go back to at any point and love it just as much as you did the first time you played it. This route just isn't what made the series enjoyable.
The stuff with Hunk was pretty minor, it'd be nice to flesh it out with other umbrella operatives.

And why I don't get the hate is this: IT'S A SPIN-OFF. IT'S NOT RESIDENT EVIL 6. There is no way people should be angry.

Resi 6 will not be a Socom styled shooter so everyone should stop crying about this spin-off from the series.

Jesus, they've done on-rails lightgun games with Resident evil but they didn't pursue it for the main game series did they? So everyone chill out, this game is the equivalent of Lara Croft and the Guardian of light.

I am coming off very confused from the responses of how people see the game.

Quite a few people believe that the game is L4D, but I see it more like Rainbow Six with zombies in it. You have the "good" guys, the "bad" guys and zombies that are just neutral.

To believe RE:RC is like LFD is kind of off the mark. The same is said of Dead Island and i'm pretty sure that Dead Island is not going to play in a similar fashion like RC. Zombies in RC seem more like the "kill streaks" you would use to take out the other opponents, but that can backfire if used improperly.

Resi 4 brought me hope that Resident Evil was coming back in a big way.

Then Resi 5 came along and shit on all those hopes.

And now this.
