They wouldn't let Inafune finish because he left the company in what was little more than him having a mid-life crisis hissy fit. You can't pull some drama queen act and then expect the company you've left to suddenly be amicable towards you, especially considering how much of a bitter, whiny, self-xenophobic jackass Inafune was for the two+ years before he left.

Also given how he was asking a company long criticised even by himself for making too many sequels to make a SEQUEL TO A FRANCHISE WITH OVER A HUNDRED GAMES. MegaMan has certainely been neglected.....

Pretty much, he only gave it special treatment because it was his pet project. Ironically, even he himself admitted he wasn't the creator of Mega Man. If anyone could be called MM's father it's probably Tokuro Fujiwara or Akira Kitamura

And to think I wanted a remake of Resi 2 in the same vein as the REmake. Ah well.

At the end of the day, did Capcom cancel MML3, a game I have waited over a decade for and would have gladly purchased multiple copies to share with my friends?

Yep.

And I hate them bitterly for that.

Here's hoping Inafune's future projects are as brilliant as his prior ones.

So what everyone is saying is that they want Capcom to give Inafune the rights to MegaMan and bear the costs for the production of a game with negative previews? (Universe I'm referring to here). Has anyone actually thought about this?

Or is all this rage because they aren't Valve or Bioware?
mines over them only caring about fighters and neglecting everything else. and legends 3 was the big thing everyone was looking forward too

Capcom go die. You killed my childhood.
*Sigh* That's the fucked up Ironic part. Capcom helped make my childhood only to trash it and ruin everything that was lovable about it....

I feel so violated for defending and following CAPCOM all these years only to find out that they love to screw the fans over and expect to win them back with a half-assed incentive.

Fucking Capcom.

Seriously, I was a loyal Capcom follower. I love DMC (Not sure about the upcoming one...), I love Mega Man, especially Mega Man Legends, I love Resident Evil, yes, even the movies, and all the other Capcom characters from MvC3. But this is just trolling.

You know, it's fine if you don't have the resources to start a game. That's understandable. But that just seems to me like a dick move. "Hurr, that one guy left so we're cancelling his projects even though half of our followers would die for those titles. it's not that we're butthurt, it's just that we don't care. 8D"

Capcom's just plain ol' butthurt. And we're paying for its Preparation H.
Yeah. Pretty much this. I'm just really finding this to be a hard pill to swallow at the moment. If I've learned anything from Capcom, it's that they love to take a winning formula and muck it up to the point where the people who liked the older and more memorable Icons are just a bunch of Nostalgia-blinded fanboys who don't like change.

That's the only thing Capcom is doing right. Fighters. If it weren't for MvC3 I'd honestly have nothing more to do with any of their new projects.

*Goes back to Playing Megaman 2, Megaman X and Devil May Cry 3*

Capcom doesn't like titles that are "too old"? I thought that bringing Megaman back to 8 bit graphic was them trying to get some nostalgia dollars.

I've never played the MM Legends series, did it not sell well at the time? I wonder if they made them available as a digital download on the Wii's virtual console/PSN/XBLA and it sold well, would they change their minds?
A better example would of been Street Fighter. That series was hella-old before they made SF4. If they didn't like old games, why go through all the trouble to make SF4, then Super SF4, then SSF4 Arcade Edition, then SSF4:Arcade Edition 2012... you get the point...
Yeah, I see. The last Street fighter I played though was Street Fighter Turbo on the SNES... I just don't follow that series so I didn't have the info to make the reference.

In all honesty, this bit of news sounds less like a game denied by "the man"...and more like a spoiled brat who wanted to have his cake and eat it. His peers who left CAPCOM (like Kamiya, Mikami, Fujiwara, etc) NEVER made a big stick over leaving. They just finished what projects they were already doing and then left cleanly. No drama, no bs, no clumsy attempts to try and get people's sympathy, nothing.

It it just me or is Capcom trying to destroy Megaman. I mean just think about it. He isn't in Marvel vs Capcom 3 or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Pretty much every project with the name has been cancelled and the one guy who would actually make more Megaman games and stand up against Capcom to make them left because he clearly got sick of fighting the people who are suppose to be encouraging him to make games and of course holding the rights to the ip and then doing nothing with the IP.

Capcom is trying its hardest to piss off everyone that could have once been called Capcom fans.

And THANK God for people like Aiddon, and Ninjamedic. HELLO! Iwafune was a DOUCHE who ran off crying about how HE was snubbed. And I'm getting SOOO tired of these Anti-Capcom threads. JUST wait, when they announce something you care about, it'll be back to," HOORAH! CAPCOM IS TEH AWESOME ONCE MOAR!" A bunch of hypocritic spoiled snots you lot are.

OT: So Iwafune is raging about how Capcom snubbed him again? What a surprise. Guy's certainly a bit of a dick who handled leaving the company as well as a giant man-child would handle being told his world was destroyed. And why yes, I did compare Iwafune to Super Boy Prime, why did you ask?

I don't even know why Inafune has such a baffling army of supporters; he completely admitted 4 years ago that he didn't make Mega Man, having been hired onto the team merely to do drawings for a game that was all but finished by the time he came along. He got LUCKY and has been undeservedly riding the fame that should belong to others. It's like how people mistakenly attribute Metroid and Kid Icarus' creation to Gunpei Yokoi who was merely a producer

I wasn't under the impression that Dead Rising, Resident Evil and Devil May Cry were fighting games.
legends 3 was the big thing everyone was looking forward too
I actually never saw much support around here for it until the cancellation.

Thanks, it's nice to see common sense around here once in a while.

Because Capcom are KILLING MEGAMAN TO DEATH!!

you mean resident evil that sucked after 4 because the creator left because capcom started going against his wishes? or dead rising "we'll charge you for the demo" dead rising? and hows that reception for the new dante going?

it wasnt here, the cancellation was the #1 tweeted subject in japan. and trust me, i know you like your street fighter but would you like it if they started cancelling street fighters left and right? cause when people are sick of fighters guess whats going to go first in capcoms eyes? and the people that were upset about this games cancellation will go "where was our support over MML3 being cancelled? oh wait, you were too busy telling us to stop caring about a game you didnt like while jacking off to a game that was announced 5 months after its beta and you werent getting compensated for buying the original or its DLC"

I myself enjoyed the co-op of Resi 5 (although the story sucked).
or dead rising "we'll charge you for the demo" dead rising?
So, mini game prequel with 4 hours worth gameplay = demo? Nice logic.

and hows that reception for the new dante going?
Most people I know are actually giving the new DMC a fair chance. If you're gauging online reations you should take fanboy rage into account espically given that there has been little gameplay footage.

I was looking at these forums, but thanks for the correction there.

I love how you automatically assume I am a SF fanboy (I myself prefer King of Fighters 98 and CVS2). Also there was a time when Street Fighter died out, remember SFIII? I genuinely don't care about SF at the moment, I just love pointing out the hypocrisy of these recent rants against Capcom. Playing Devil's Advocate is fun!

and the people that were upset about this games cancellation will go "where was our support over MML3 being cancelled? oh wait, you were too busy telling us to stop caring about a game you didnt like while jacking off to a game that was announced 5 months after its beta and you werent getting compensated for buying the original or its DLC"
Again, the assumption that I am a rabid fanboy based on how I am willing to moderately defend a company in a discussion, and I shall quote myself:

Myself said:
Also given how he was asking a company long criticised even by himself for making too many sequels to make a SEQUEL TO A FRANCHISE WITH OVER A HUNDRED GAMES.
I love the MegaMan games, but I can't really get pissed off when they decide to can a game due to negative previews and the failure of a console.

Then you should clarify your posts a little. (Also, I consider UMVC3 to be not that bad when you look at it as an expansion).

its to people who are going "it deserved yp be cancelled because its not street fighter."
They my friend are idiots, I'd have pinned the cancellation of Legends and Universe on the failure of the 3DS and negative previews respecively.

actually legends 3 got positive reviews from the playtesters

unless youre talking about universe. and theres 5 games i want coming out exclusive for the 3ds and i own 6, which is more than when i got the ds. i only had castlevania and nintendogs(which was bundled with it) for a few months before partners in time came out. so in my eyes it tripped really bad at the start but is slowly yet surely picking itself up
