I HATE these things!

I understand some system like that is necessary, but sometimes I can't tell what the bloody text is saying, and in some sites if you fail you have to do the whole form again...

The system here at the Escapist has annoyed me so far, but not stopped me from actually posting, which it has done on some other sites.

And if you have a bad eyesight (like my best friend does) it's even worse. It's good Escapist has the option to listen to it, although I don't know well it works.

My friend can't read the texts, so he can't use several sites because of that, or he has to get someone else to help him.

Son of a *****. Luckily captcha can be refreshed, but still.
No reason for it, you only had to type; Losehon and then a fake word for the 2nd word.
Edit; found the pic 4chan made for entering the captcha faster;

It wasn't on the Escapist, but a while ago I got a Captcha that said "Islam forever". I refreshed it.

I hate the captcha system, especially when words are so distorted that you cant tell the difference between a c-l and a d.

Capthas are unwelcome, there should be a better form rather than the old type the two words in the box style. All you need to determine that the poster is a human and not automated is a slider. A simple slider.

I've come across many captcha's in my time browsing the web, but none on the Escapist. Is this part of some new thing that I missed?

In any case, I hate em'. They're annoying and only make me laugh once in a great while.

Last night I was posting in a thread about religious restrictions in Israel, and the second word of the captcha was the word "mitzvah" (which means "Jewish law"), written in Hebrew letters. It gave me a good chuckle.

Every thread I've decided to post a reply to since they've implemented it. (Including this one) hasn't had the Re-captcha thing in it. I've also not found any interesting words in the ones I have seen.

On many occasions, Captcha's have lead to hilarity. Just today, going through the forums, I ran across this gem:

Discussion: Have you ran across any strange or funny Captcha's on the Escapist since their implementation?

Irritating.

Just a public service announcement - If you get odd characters, garbled letters, foreign characters, numbers or different fonts, you can type anything, and it should recognise it.

I don't necessarily dislike captcha in general, but i do strongly dislike "reCaptcha". Not just here but anywhere where it is used. This stuff is not just unreadable by machines, but also barely readable by humans. I usually have to request 3-6 new captchas, sometimes up to ten, until i get one that is decryptable without significant guesswork.

I do find them slightly annoying, but if it'll stop bot spammers, I'm all for it.

even though I've only bumped into one so far

Yes. I got words that were upside down, words I did not understand, words not in English, words that don't exist.

It takes me at least twice to enter the damn thing correctly, which is annoying, but, hey, if our forum feels it needs to cut down on spam, so be it.
Yeah me too, the first entry never seems to work.

Your friend is a bot?!

Seriously, though, it's one more hoop to jump through in order to be able to post. I'm ok with it, but hope it has the deired effect.

I ounce got "Go rwanda" Hmm that's odd, atleast it's not as bad as "dime genocide" which leads us to the worst one I've seen, which is "go blanca"(blanca means white in spanish) which leads me to believe captcha is secretly racsist... rascist computers... do not want.

errr....

I haven't encountered the Captcha system while browsing The Escapist... :p

Maybe Pub Club users don't get them? Wouldn't know why though...
PubClub don't get them, it's part of a genius plan to make Chinese spammers pay for Pub Club to avoid captchas.

Actually I think Pub Club may get them, but not as frequently. But Staff don't get them, so it's part of a genius plan to get Chinese spammers to contribute to the well being of these forums to the extent that Kuliani gives them moderator powers so they can avoid captcha. Of course I still get to ban them.
I post a lot and I haven't got not a single one. I think we may be excluded. :x
This could be it. I mean I don't even see the captcha box till after I make the post. Perhaps its for those who have recently joined or as was said, those with low post-counts.
