I think it depends on the cartoon.
If a full grown man told me he enjoyed Dora the Explorer, I'd find it very odd.
But if another man said he liked Samurai Jack, I'd say: You wanna see my Samurai Jack DVD collection?

Yes and now they have a broken nose.

In all seriousness, yes I have and I think they're fucking annoying.

They're too narrow minded and thick to understand that there are other ways of conveying a mature story than just live action.

If you haven't yet you probably never will. The generation that grew up on animation is old enough now that cartoons are marketed to an adult medium. Hence family guy, south park, the simpsons, and any other major cartoon these days.

Look at Nickelodeon. Most of their shows are now live-action

My dad's wife(remarried) does this all the time. It's actually to the point were she'll call something like Avatar cartoons, and hate it for being animated.

My mum used to think this, until I showed her Death Note, instantly hooked she was.

But I also think it depends on the cartoon too, The Simpsons and Family Guy are probably not suitable for kids. Rugrats and Spongebob....probably not suitable for anyone.

Yes, I have. And not, I don't agree.

I invite anyone that claims that to see "Grave of the Fireflies". Hey! They asked for it...

I was in Suncoast, when a parent was looking for "Cartoons" for her kid, searching in the Hentai section. Obviously wasn't looking at the boxes very closely...

People with the idea that cartoons are only for kids haven't watched a lot of cartoons themselves.
PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH that's HYSTERICAL

Eh, sort of. I haven't run into anyone who flat out says cartoons are just for kids, but I get an occasional off handed comment from my parents about me being too old to spend so much time watching cartoons and playing videogames. I've recently started re-watching some of my favorite childhood shows, and darn it if the studios didn't put more effort into Saturday morning cartoons then than they do prime time sitcoms and dramas now.
