Simple thread. Are there any actors out there who you would like or think could play comic book characters you like?

Also if you think someone could have done a better character than one already cast in a movie (Batman, Spiderman etc).

Mine would be Clive Owen to play Marvel's favourite 90s anti hero Cable. I think we his hair dyed white and some fake scars he'd look the part. He's already played world weary characters like in Children of Men and ridiculous badasses like Shoot Em Up and Sin City. He's also 6'2 1/2 only 5 1/2 inches shorter than the 6'8 Nathan Summer, so there would be less of an effort required to get make him look taller.

Clive is 6'2", isn't he? That's my contribution since I don't know anything about comic characters.

Yeah your right I was thinking of someone else, but yeah it's tall enough, can't really sacrifice talent for height.

Not really an actor but Glen Danzig would be a way more convincing Wolverine short sideburns not gay already has so much on that other guy.The whole wolverine thing isn't just about claws in the comic he was only like five foot tall.

Long sideburns was a directorial and costume choice made by the makers of the movie, not Hugh Jackman. Secondarily, two things: a. Hugh Jackman isn't gay and b. Why would it matter if he was?

Clive Owen as Cable?

I don't see it. He doesn't have the physique nor the facial expression.

I want to see me as <Insert tall and blond guy here who is incredibly popular, therefore earning me lots of money>

Really it wouldn't I was just doing some commentary on his propensity for prancing around in plays not really fitting in with the whole supposed to be a manacing tough guy thing. You have to admit that if you read the comic and then watched a scene from the first movie for the first time without sound you would not know who the fuck he was portraying. All right I'll admit that last part was grasping a straws I will leave at I don't like the guy, I was also gonna say prancing around in tights but I guess that would kinda fit a comic charactor better.

Captain America?

I think your going to be hard pressed to find an actor as freaking huge as Cable (face it at some points he is pretty ridiculous) that can also act, I think Clive with a bit of work could pull of Cable's look from Cable and Deadpool, tall and muscular but not disproportionate.

What facial expression? Cable rarely shows that much emotion on his face, he always serious and straight faced, except when he's unbearably smug. But the vibe he constantly gives off is of a cynical and word weary person, I think Clive could do that.

The height is a big thing for me too, I have a friend who is 5'4 one inch taller than Wolverine (5'3) and he's very well muscled, it's a distinctively badass look, a little man that can kick your arse.

Patrick Stewart as Professor X.

Oh wait.
Yeah there have been some good picks for characters, Robert Downey Jr is a great Iron Man and I'm curious to see Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.

Bruce Campbell as insert big chinned guy here.

I can't think of anything he wouldn't be perfect for, except maybe Wonder Woman.
Dude, Brace Campbell should fucking play Mysterio from Spider-man. That would fucking rock!

As for my choices?

Emily Blunt for Catwoman

Javier Bardem for Bane

Natalie Portman as Poison Ivy

Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin

Simon Pegg as Hank Pym

Giovanni Ribisi as The Question

Seth Green as Electro

Russell Crowe as any random comic book character that doesn't say anything, just gets beaten or killed by the main characters.

I think he'd be a good ant-man but perhaps Eric O'Grady the Irredeemable Ant-man rather than the legendary Pym, trying to seduce women and torment his enemies. A film about a morally loose hero and the fun he has before manning and up and saving the day could be good.

I'd pay 11 dollars to see that.

I could see Clive Owen playing Cable. I don't get why height is such an important issue to be honest.
[sub]I thought Hugh Jackman made a pretty good Wolverine[/sub]

I can't really think of any original ones at the moment, but I thought Robert Downey Jr was a great choice as Tony Stark, as was Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool.
