But does it have wall-meat, the most delicious of all meats? I mean, you DO know that Dracula's Castle is built in the bones of a giant Holy Cow. This explains the origin of Vampire Killer (leather whip made from the hide of the Holy Cow) and those delicious wall-meats you can get by destroying some walls.

"Hay guys! I have an idea, let's take God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, Dante's Inferno and totally make up our own story based on a universe that has twenty years and legions of fans behind it."

"... Brilliant!"

Seriously, Shadow of the Colossus was great because it felt like you were fighting giant animals... it's like they tried to capture that with the "titans" but instead put a "press button when the next part you're supposed to grab brightly glows" mechanic in that removes ALL of the "puzzle solving" aspects and is basically a masked quick time event. God of War was loved because it's story, setting and such were something fresh that hadn't been done to death...

I don't understand the mentality behind this project... It just doesn't make sense to me. What fan of the Castlevania series would want this? Every time they try and drag the series in to 3D people rebel... people like the "Metroidvania" style of game play. The DS titles were very loved; why do this? Who wants this?

Why waste effort making what fans want (high quality, faithful to the series) when they can make a mediocre game based off the popularity of other games and then proceed to make the average customer want it anyway? If you could create a sort of false demand for a game, and expect it to sell well, would you bother seriously working on that game(from a cost perspective)?

The game has Sir Patrick Stewart in it. Thats really all I needed to know about this game in order to make a decision on whether or not I should buy it
Did Sir Patrick Stewart have participation in the design decisions that would make this game a less generic experience than this particular trailer seems to indicate?
Nope, but his soothing voice will help make the whole experience allot more relaxing for you

Considering that vampires and Dracula are pretty much confirmed to be appearing in the second half of the game, I don't see what everyone's whining about. Sure, it looks inspired by more recent action games, but you could argue that they were inspired by the old school Castlevania games in the first place, so this is a logical step for the franchise to take.

Sir Patrick Stewart as Juan Sanchez Villa-lobos Ramirez (seriously, his character in the game looks just like freakin Sean Connery in the Highlander) and Jason Issacs as Dracula.

Yeah, the voices will be awesome. I just hope they work in the "What is a Man" speech somewhere in there.

Copying copies of yourself just sounds like a extreme way to be lazy.

Though I think there's far too much road taken between the original Castlevania trilogy from the NES and God of War to make such a comparison.

And let's face it. By "more recent action games", you could very well just say GoW. It stinks of it all the way.

Looking forward to it, but don't you feel like they're trying to take over your job with this?
I mean, come on! They practically created themselves an IGN-style video review. "Compelling this-or-that" too!
It's sickening, to me at least.

I whole heartedly endorse a reboot. While that means that the plot moving forward will be missing great games/characters/stories such as the series original Simon, Trevor, Alucard, etc, newer games arguably killed the magic that made Castlevania. I forget which one it was for the ps2, but you play a guy, that A) doesn't use a whip, B) doesn't fight a vampire/Dracula, and C) is not a Belmont. It was NOT a castlevania game, and yet, it was supposed to be. (I cannot comment on the hand-held versions, since I haven't played a single one.)

The series truly needs a reboot. I'm hoping elements from the original series make their way into a rebooted series, while someone competent handles the gameplay. Kojimas assistance is promising. Since he's not director, I'm sure there's an editor involved somewhere to keep him in check.

I wonder what elements of the original string of Castlevania games make it in there. Will Gabriel name his child Simon? Will (assuming there is a) Dracula be raising a child Alucard? Curiousr!
