That's because gamers hold standards to ridiculous levels. I'm not gonna say that all video game movies have been great, but there have been a couple good ones. The problem with video game movies is less that they aren't good, and more that if they aren't the most fantastic movie you'll ever see in 10 lifetimes, then the gamers will rip it to shreds and label it as shit... even if it was a decent movie regardless.ChromeAlchemist said:I'll have to crack them into a cross, because last time I did that Resident Evil stomped them into the dirt.
And Konami is excited because of the money truck that just pulled up outside the offices. I'll hold my tongue because it seems promising, and it does seem like they are on the right track, but the last film that came out of development hell was DragonBall: Evolution. Just thought I'd put that out. That, and I've never seen a good videogame movie. Ever.
Personally, I liked Spirits Within, and the Tomb Raider movie wasn't terrible (though the second one was), and the first Resident Evil was also fairly good (though like Tomb Raider, the rest weren't). I would also argue that the Street Fighter movie from the 90s wasn't bad when you consider that it was supposed to be campy. It takes a certain sense of humor to be able to enjoy it, I'll admit, but it was a good movie when you aren't trying to take it seriously (edit: Though, again, the second Street Fighter movie just recently was horrible... so frankly, I won't be worried until they announce a second Castlevania, because sequels to video game movies certainly aren't on a good track record).
