I still think Sypha is an annoying *****, but otherwise I really enjoy the characters.
I disagree. I find those stupid twins in Season 3 the most annoying. They're pointless, not needed, and you can literally drop them from the plot and not miss anything. They're only there to make Alucard even more miserable. Fuck those characters and that fucking judge that gets off on killing kids!

I'd say this is easily the best video game inspired piece of media I've ever consumed, altho I have never actually played a Castlevania game.
I suggest you get the Castlevania Collection for starters, if interested. Do be warned that the old Castlevania games are tough as balls. Especially the American versions. Play Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. The TV show is based off the 3rd mainline game in the franchise.

I started watching the show last week, and I have to say, I was impressed. The first season had some odd animation, but by the fourth season you can tell they have a much bigger budget. I still think Sypha is an annoying *****, but otherwise I really enjoy the characters.

Just gonna leave this here. No spoilers.

What sells it is the look of absolute despair on Trevors face at the end there.

What a wonderful Season 2! There is no time wasted, nor does this season feel rushed. I have 0 complaints. Nocturne has pretty much surpassed the original for me.

I was very skeptical following season 3 which followed "Netflix codes" and which was clearly below the first 2 seasons... But the penultimate episode of this season 4 is so impressive that we want more!

“We Did Feel Like We Reached A Resolution”: Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 Co-Composer Talks Crafting A Satisfying Ending (But Hoping For Season 3)

“This was very much a two-season arc that concluded at the end of season 2,” Toy said when asked about the potential of a Castlevania: Nocturne season 3. He continued: “It does make me happy that if we are not fortunate enough to get a third season, it is great that season 2 does feel like a conclusion. There is something satisfying in that.” To be clear, the composer does want the show to return: “I really am hoping, because I think there’s more story to tell.

As for what the story would be, Toy responded to speculation that this would be the perfect time to adapt the hit game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: “I love the idea of doing a true-to-life adaptation of Symphony of the Night. At the same time it’s hard because, at the end of the second season, our characters have now dispersed.”

Toy elaborated: “We have Richter and Annette sailing across the ocean. We have Maria and Alucard staying in France. I think where the story is leading feels like novel territory. So, if we do end up adapting one of the games in a more true-to-life sense, I hope that we can also follow our characters where they are at the end of season 2. There’s something really exciting about following Richter out of Europe, which is the typical Castlevania setting.”

In true composer fashion, Toy ended on a humble disclaimer: “But that’s just me. I just write the music. These are decisions that are above my pay grade.”
