the more free to play mmo's the better .
DOWN WITH SUBSCRIPTION BASED GAMES!
I'll go ahead and disagree here.

I prefer having subcription-based MMOs, as you get everything there is in the game. With 'free to play' ones you don't; you usually get a really empty base and have to buy other things from the store or something.
that may be true in some games but most games i play that are free 2 play like DDO, maple story and other have a good amount of free stuff to do with DDo only some quest lines are locked and you can earn the cash to buy them by playing the free quests and in maple every thing is free EVERY THING. most free 2 play mmos that really want to succeed have a lot of content available for free users so they wont leave and buy some of that micro transaction items.
I played DDO and found that not to be the case. I found that the quests that you could do without spending any money only got you so far before they started repeating.

Runes of Magic did Free 2 Play properly.

Also, re-read your posts before posting.

Every time I hear about another MMO going free, my heart goes into my throat, hoping, wishing, wanting, yearning for it to be Tabula Rasa. But it never is, it's dead, and nothing can ever bring it back. Dear God am I depressed.

I played the Free trail today, honestly it was a fun hour I spent in the tutorial zone at most.
Then the game demanded I buy it before I could try more.

I was expecting a Free trial of the games content, not a run through the tutorial. I got to see nothing or worth.
Not purchasing it.

Oooh, I've been wanting to try the character designer this game. I'm glad I can play it now...

Its Wine compatible, right?
Yes, should run under vanilla Wine these days. Make sure you install IE7 or 8 though, not the Gecko MSHTML renderer. For Macs you can use Wineskin, the STO tech forums have more detailed instructions.
