the fat guy from half life who turned up in episode 2 only to yell at you, he was not funny or interesting, he was just a fat self-righteous bloat.
Who is this fat guy? Im trying to place him but can't for the life of me figure out who you are talking about.
Maybe Magnisson, but he wasn't that fat. He was in HL1 though. It's the only thing i can think of.
I was thinking that was well, but when he said fat I imagine Father Gregory fat, but then again, Father Gregory has too much win to be hated, seeing as how he's also Bill from L4D. So you might just be right in thinking its Magnusson. But he wasn't fat, just cranky lol.

Though this may sound obscure, Rosh Penin from Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy.

Dude has an annoying voice for starters, then tries to kill you, then pretends to be normal, then turns evil and then has the guts to beg you to save his pathetic life! And if you kill him, you get the bad ending!
Yeah, I used to play multiplayer with some friends, every enemy bot was made into Rosh so we could throw him off Bespin platforms or cut his limbs off... God I hated him.

The fat character from Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. Since no one remembers that game, I'm guessing they don't remember the useless fat guy.

Wrong. I liked him.

Now Navi from OoT...she was beyond annoying
I swear I never even noticed how annoying she was until this past play-through. Highlight was when I'd been wandering around Death Mountain for an hour because I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do next (turns out I forgot to throw a bomb at Darunia's son, btw) and she piped up, so I'm like, 'great, maybe she can give me a hint'. What she said was something along the lines of 'maybe we should go to Death Mountain!' FML. :p

OT: I'm thinking Wormtail from Hairy Pawter. Or Bendis from the first five minutes of the Firefly pilot episode :p

The three headed knight in Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail. Not that they were a bad character(s?) or anything, but when put next to 'Tis only a flesh-wound' and 'Ni!', how can they compete?

Raiden. Why the fuck does anyone like Raiden?
Here we go.

Raiden was a great character. He was human, had real genuine flaws, his very character ended up being a great part of the artistic statement made at the end of that game, and ended up being one of my favorite characters.

Why not like Raiden? Give me one legitimate reason he was a bad character.

He seems to have a thing for skin tight suits...
The thing is, he looks kinda badass in MGS4, but he still remains a whiny little whimp.

My vote goes to Jimmy Fallon. I honestly can't imagine who in the right mind likes that guy.

You sir, win this thread.

I'd say Midichlorians.
Yes! Who, besides George Lucas, thought midichlorians were a good idea? Good grief, take a neat pseudo-mystical/spiritual thing and turn it into biology. Neat idea ruined? Check.

That was Jedi Knight 2.

You are correct though, he was too whiny half the time and I only let him live for the Light side ending.
No, Jedi Knight 2 was Jedi Outcast.
Ah we are all wrong. The game in question is Jedi Knight 1

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Jedi_Knight:_Jedi_Academy
Did your brain just lose any and all ability to process information? You link to a wikipedia article where it is mentioned in the first few lines that Jedi Academy is the sequel to Jedi Outcast (which was the 2nd installment in the series), and then claim that Jedi Academy is the 1st title of the series? You fail at the internet. Worse, you fail at basic logic.
So no, it is just you who is wrong.
No, the titling of the series is just confusing. Calling it "Jedi Knight 3" is the closest to being correct because it was the third game you got to wield a light saber. The series goes as follows:

Dark Forces
Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Technically, following their own messed up naming scheme, Academy should have been called "Jedi Outcast 2: Jedi Academy, but that doesn't make a lot of sense in regards to the story of Academy. I remember hearing when Academy came out that it was originally designed as an expansion to JK2, but they ended up fleshing it out so much they just went with a full game instead.

I don't think we're gonna find somebody who was universally hated. I mean, look at Teddy from Persona 4. That guy was annoying, and became kind of a prick later in the game, but there are a lot of people who like him.

However, we might find somebody who was universally forgettable, and I'm not just talking about obscure RPG NPCs.

I'm pretty sure that the term "fan" comes from the word "fanatic" in the way that someone is "fanatical" about something or someone. Now, people can be fanatical about something in both a positive and negative sense. For example, Jar Jar Binks. Everybody hates him. Everybody talks about hating him. Everybody is a fanatic. See where I'm going with this?

So a lot of people just disliking a character doesn't mean the same as the character having zero fans. In some ways, Jar Jar has more fans that any other Star Wars character in the history of the film.

In actuality, it's impossible to have "zero fans".
Unless you're talking characters that are just so 'meh' that no one cares at all one way or the other. If you're talking hate vs. like, then yes, definitely. But what about characters that failed even to make a ripple?

im gonna take a pretty obscure choice and say Gelu from Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Armageddon´s Blade.

sure, in the Heroes Chronicles hes kinda assy for accidently destroying Erathia (the fucking world), but he was a complete badass in Armageddons Blade, kicking Lucifer´s arse and saving the world from Armageddon.

The Fishers from the Pokemon games. Seriously? Can't you make them an actual challenge instead of a bunch of retards who insist on using 6 Magikarps?

Nothing wrong with his character development, he's just very annoying to me. And a lot of other people. I just found him very whiny and self centered in a game that really didn't need that sort of emotions in it. Plus, the love story of him and his significant other felt awkward and out of place.

In his defense, when you're being compared to Solid Snake, no man would come out well.
I see your point about the whining, but for the artistic statement to have its full impact they needed a main character who was constantly second guessing himself, was insecure, and just took orders. He represented the human race that Patriots wanted to control. He shaped the whole premise in the end and how it was executed as pretty brilliant.

In comparison to solid snake, I found Raiden a lot more compelling. Snake is a generic badass super soldier. Raiden has the same talent, but he is unsure of himself, he second guesses his abilities and makes mistakes. He is one of the most human characters I have ever seen in a game. A flawed human character like Raiden is more interesting to me than Solid Snake the unstopable super man.

They destroyed him in MGS4 imo along with the entire plot (NANOMACHINES DID IT), but that is another topic.
