Depends the setting of the game and what type of character I want to play. Usually stick with Nokaah though. It's my own name backwards, but it looks so smexy.

Sunrider or Sunnie, unless they require a "normal" name. In that case, I usually use my own name, Linus, for guys, and Mirel for chicks.

If it's an elf, I use Elzorin, it works for both male and female but I tend to have it on the lady side. Aphota also crops up a few times, and I plan to use the name Thrazzregal more often after I took a shine to it.
When it comes to more realistic names I go for Marcus, Felix, Leon or Alexander, all of them both grand and badass.

For games where the name doesn't really matter or has a multiplayer component, its Mr.Pandah. On Xbox though it is L0af0fbread. Anything else, like a serious RPG or something, I usually use my own name.

If they're male, or gender isn't defined then Marik, if they're female then Madoka. Occasionally I'll mix it up depending on the theme of the game, but I usually stick to those.

Not counting names from Dune that I use on and off, Nizaris (from Nizari, the militant sect of Islam that formed the Hashashins), Aerodyth (no story there), or Garhed Carsisir (an anagram of an actual name). Those are all male names though so female ones usualy are pulled from Star Wars or Dune, typically Mara, Ghanima, or Irulan.

If the character is male then I will ususally call them James, my own name (even in a fantasy setting). If female, then Maya, which is what I would call a daughter if I had one, is the name I use.

Sigh, this is why I have it saved to a notepad file.

It all started with KOTOR asking for a character name. I wanted something that sounded like it was from the star wars universe so I chose eko. As time went on I thought it sounded cooler with an s. Later when I used to use it as my steam name, everyone pronounced it as ecos (think Jak eco). So I added an H to give it the pronunciation that I wanted. It's in capitals because most characters I use the name on are supposed to be very powerful. Plus it looks unbalanced the other way.

I make up all of my character names. Sometimes I use etymologies from the roots of various languages, but mostly it's all from upstairs. I try to equate a name with the character I'm "creating" or "building".

It also comes from the fact that I don't really like my own name nor many other Western names since they essentially derive from mass appeal. It's just sad and lazy. I'd like to think if I were to help bring a life into the world, I would name the child something unique.

I've always been fascinated by language and the root meanings of words simply because it is interesting to learn how people reference various things in their lives and convey information. It's also interesting that names have a meaning within themselves as they're essentially amalgamations of other words.

That being said, names of various fantasy/RPG characters over the years: Arysia, Gole, Ellora, Welles, Anatheron, Grodul, Orgar, Araeia, etc.

If I'm feeling unoriginal, which is about 90% of the time, I either use the English version of my name or my username. Though I've started using Landon Garth, which is what I've started using for all my male characters in RPs here on the Escapist...

For female characters, I usually try to think of something. Just something.
