I was just wondering (after playing MW2 for a very extended period yesterday) does anyone actually talk to other (random) folks over xbox live? Whenever I enter a free-for-all I'll say "Hi" but don't tend to get a reply (other than from the occasional loud and foul mouth child - which can be amusing). I don't think it's just me although I'm willing to take that as a possibility.

Have any of you guys started up some fun and random conversations? Did you already know all your online friends or have you just added people who you enjoyed gaming with?

BTW, it's not MW2 based, I'm talking about any games at all.

I used to, while I played Gears online a lot. You met a lot of cool people in that game.

Lately, I hate everyone I meet. Not really sure why. Maybe its because of the community difference between MW2 and Gears.

Give Left 4 Dead a try. You need to play that with a mic otherwise you aint getting your moneys worth.
You meet some really cool people online.

That's what I was thinking. L4D2 is my next purchase I think.

I'd really like to do some of the spec ops on MW2 co-op but my friends either Don't have the game or completely suck at it. One of them doesn't play online at all which I don't really understand.

I used to have my mic on in the vain hope someone else would start talking first.

But, they never did.

So now, I don't play with randoms, unless I have a friend or two with me to talk to.

I am a quiet person. I do have a mic, I do have it on when I'm on Live, but I don't talk much. I won't start a conversation, but if someone talks to me I will respond. My sister, however, is very talkative, so sometimes I just hand her the mic so she can talk.

To be honest. I have actually started up random convo's with random people. They were actually cool too. Pretty much started out from them singing some Muse or whatever and I commented that said band is awesome. Then we just played like 10 or so games in free for all.

Other then those few people. It's usually little kids screaming.

I've never used voice chat on xBox live, becuase the only times I've played it, was with people who were within punching range. And really, who needs to cry ZOMG N00b h4x0ctrsas when you can just lean over and give your friend a dead arm for using the Martyr thingy in WaW?

I find myself remaining silent because I have no wish to talk to chavs. Though I'll happily talk to Americans if they sound as if they're in their 20's.

I play with close or either long time XBOX live friends so we constantly get into random arguements and conversations about many different topics. As for random people I meet online; not so much not becuase they want to talk to me but when I'm playing with people I don't normally play with I'm into the game 100%. But when it's with friends I usually find it hard to concentrate on the gameplay.

Believe it or not, I made a couple of good friends on Halo 3. We were playing Snowbound (I think that's the name of the map) and we were all bunkered inside of one of the bases, killing all the guys on the opposing team that would try to come in and kill us. It turns out that they were all from Australia as well (not too much of a coincidence but it was cool at the time) and then we would frequently chat and play together, or two of us would play doubles. We worked pretty well as a team, was fun while it lasted because soon the one I would talk to most stopped coming online.

made my best 'online friend' in a forza2 room.
however, the more popular the game is, the greater the chance of meeting jerkasses in my expirence.

Occasionally, when I find a non-douchebag. Generally not talking to people on FPS games though.

I'll talk if theres intelligence on the server, but if it just turns into bitching and arguing over stupid things, then I switch off
