Cheap for a Reason

So I decided to make this thread as a warning to other frugal shoppers/college kids. As that kind of shopper you tend to just see the price without even considering the reasons behind the price. Or at least I do.

DO NOT buy the cheapest toilet paper. EVER.

I recently made a trip to the store. I needed a few toiletries and only had a little bit of cash. While at the store, I was looking at the various brands of TP. Unable to find the 4-pack of the brand I usually use, I opt to buy the cheapest brand in the store. Well time goes on and I eventually have to use said TP. What looked like normal soft paper for bottoms suddenly felt like thick grade sandpaper lit on fire.

So fellow consumers, is there other items worthy of a mention that are cheap for a reason? Or if anyone would like to tell a related story go right ahead.

TP is the one big one, but I have a second. No matter how poor I am, I will never buy anything except real butter. No exceptions.

I'm that way about a lot of my food. Yes, I know that the generic-brand stuff costs a fraction of the price and comes in bigger servings most of the time, but if you're not enjoying what you're eating, then there's a serious problem, in my book.

I always buy the cheapest toilet paper. Sometimes the sheets don't match up properly but it works for me.

Noodles seem to be alright, no need to break the bank on instant noodles, after all.
Definitely toilet paper, you know when you've got the cheap stuff.

Also, chocolate... horrible on the cheap.

I am not lying.

A man I worked with years ago told me that there comes a time in a man's life where despite his financial situation he wants to treat his ass right with good paper.

That's wisdom right there. It doesn't matter how broke I am, I'm not rubbing sandpaper on my crack.

Many Steam games are cheap for a reason.

That reason is because Steam has some awesome deals.

Perhaps not what you wanted, but it fits the requirements!

Wow, no one's said fast food yet?

You could put spam between two urinal cakes and it would taste as good, if not better, then a "burger" from McDonalds.

3D Dot Game Heroes is cheap for the reason that the graphics are little squares and water effects. That doesn't mean it's a bad game though and it's $20 cheaper then a normal game. I'd recommend it.

I was going to say Aldi Chocolate, but then I remembered that, given time, you become used to it. So instead I say Aldi Cola.
Imagine a drink- a marvelous drink- that, upon ingestion, simulates the feeling of a large meal. Imagine, then, the large meal throwing a massive party, and taking drugs all night. Then the police come, because someone threw a cocktail at old lady adam's house, and they arrest everyone and then...uh... I forget where I was going. Long story short, a single swallow fills you up as if an entire chicken, and any more makes you wish for death.
That said, it costs 60 cents for a 2 litre bottle.

People I know like these but I'm gona have to say: Super Noodles. They're like 5 packs for £1.. I've tried them twice. Urgh they are the worst thing I've tasted. I like pot noodles though *shrugs*.

As for Cheap for no Reason.. 17p packs of tortilla chips from asda. They're between the size of a pack of crisps and a doritos movie bag, so pretty big for the price.. one bag is a filling meal. However they then raised the price to 50p =(

For me its Beer I'd much rather spend some good money on a few tasty beers, than a case some Girls light or something like that.

I never go to Aldi anymore. I've had several bad experiences with their products. That place is the epitome of this thread.
